The German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) published the results of the renewable energy tenders that closed on February 1, 2026, showing a strong overdemand for onshore wind and lower participation in rooftop solar photovoltaics.
In the onshore wind tender, 924 bids were submitted for a total of 7,858 MW, more than double the 3,445 MW offered. 439 projects were awarded, covering the entire offered volume.
The awarded prices ranged between 0.0519 and 0.0564 /kWh, equivalent to approximately 0.056-0.061 USD/kWh.
The weighted average price fell significantly to 0.0554/kWh (approximately USD 0.060/kWh), compared to 0.0606/kWh in the previous round. This is the lowest value since 2018, driven by increased competition and improvements in the efficiency of wind energy projects.

At the regional level, Lower Saxony concentrated the largest volume awarded with 957 MW, followed by North Rhine-Westphalia with 661 MW, Saxony-Anhalt with 438 MW and Brandenburg with 396 MW.
In contrast, Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg accounted for just 2% of the total, reflecting persistent imbalances in wind power development within the country.
In the segment of solar energy in buildings and acoustic barriers, the tender registered lower participation.
Of the 283 MW tendered, bids were submitted for 177 MW.
After the exclusions, 85 projects were awarded for 155 MW, that is, all valid bids.
Prices ranged between 0.0788 and 0.10 /kWh, equivalent to approximately 0.085-0.108 USD/kWh.
The weighted average was 0.0956 /kWh (around 0.103 USD/kWh), slightly lower than the previous round (0.0966 /kWh).
Despite less competition, prices remained stable within the distributed generation segment.
Most of the solar awards were concentrated in North Rhine-Westphalia (50 MW), followed by Lower Saxony (17 MW) and Brandenburg (17 MW).
The next rounds will be held on May 1, 2026 for onshore wind and on June 1, 2026 for rooftop solar, in line with Germany's strategy for the sustained expansion of renewable energy.
