The opening of the electricity market in Argentina is redefining the competitive landscape and forcing technology providers to expand their value proposition beyond simply supplying equipment. Goldwind is therefore moving forward with a strategy that breaks with the traditional model for technology providers and broadens its reach beyond its own turbines. “We must have a global and comprehensive approach because, in a context of competition between different technologies, it is a challenge we are ready to face,” stated Fernando Errea, regional sales executive of Goldwind Argentina, during a featured interview at the Future Energy Summit (FES). The company has already taken a concrete step in that direction by entering the service business for equipment from other manufacturers, as the turning point was set for 2025. “ We signed the first multi-brand agreement to provide services for turbines of other technologies with Genneia.”
And that's where we're focusing our efforts, the executive emphasized. Likewise, the move towards multi-branding is based on a comprehensive proposal that combines technology, financing, and operation, with the goal of ensuring project viability. Within this framework, the company also supports developers in financial structuring. "We help our clients with financial structures, with development agencies, to provide financing solutions and ensure that projects are economically viable," Errea explained. In parallel, technological evolution reinforces this strategy with more powerful and efficient equipment, with wind turbines of 7 to 8 MW capacity and rotors of 182 meters in diameter, in line with the trend towards larger-scale technology. Thus, with over a decade in the country, Goldwind has accumulated more than 700 MW in contracts and 350 MW of its own capacity in operation, consolidating its market position. Furthermore, it is advancing on key projects such as the La Flecha wind farm with Aluar, the largest under development in Argentina. "We are finishing the largest project in Argentina with Aluar," says Errea, highlighting the magnitude of the initiative. The recent pipeline includes developments with players such as Genneia and TotalEnergies, including the southernmost wind farm in the world outside of Antarctica, in Tierra del Fuego. There, 4.2 MW wind turbines with 136-meter rotors will be installed, expanding the firm's technological presence. In terms of performance, the company achieved third place in wind market share in Argentina, supported by high capacity factors. " We even achieved good capacity factors in locations that were not traditionally considered wind farm sites, attributing these results to improvements in design and materials," the interviewee pointed out.
