The Arcor Group has launched its first solar park at the Recreo Industrial Complex in Catamarca, with 6.6 MW of installed capacity and an estimated annual generation of 11,140 MWh . The facility occupies 12 hectares and required an investment of USD 3.8 million .
The energy produced will supply between 70% and 90% of the plant's annual electricity consumption , depending on the generation level. During peak production periods, any surplus energy can be fed into the electrical grid.
The project is located next to the Recreo Industrial Complex, made up of the Candy I, Candy II and Alica plants, and constitutes the first investment of the Arcor Group under the Distributed Solar Parks scheme .
With the new facility, the company aims to expand the use of renewable energy within its industrial operations. The plant will prevent approximately 4,000 tons of CO₂ equivalent emissions per year , and its energy production is equivalent to the consumption of about 4,500 homes.

The inauguration took place as part of the group's 75th anniversary and is aligned with its 2030 Sustainability Strategy, "Living Better." Currently, more than 60% of Arcor's electricity and heat comes from renewable sources.
The company also reported that in 2025 it managed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions per ton produced by 30% compared to 2017. By 2030, its environmental strategy sets a goal that 80% of the electricity used will come from renewable sources .
"The Solar Park, the Technical School and the Urban Nature Reserve reflect a conviction that has accompanied Arcor since its origins: to grow together with the communities where we are present," said Alfredo Pagani, President of Grupo Arcor.
"They share a long-term vision and demonstrate the value of public-private partnerships to drive initiatives that generate development and leave a positive impact. Almost 40 years ago we chose to be in Recreo, and today we renew that decision," he added.
The industrial complex has been operating in the town since 1987 and today has three plants and 714 employees . The operation has a significant impact on the local economy: according to information provided by the company, 95% of salaries remain in the community.
Self-generation to reduce the industrial footprint
The solar park is part of a broader strategy to decarbonize Arcor's operations. The facility is designed to deliver 100% renewable energy directly to the complex and reduce the plant's reliance on electricity from other sources.
The possibility of injecting surplus energy also allows the generation to be used during periods when photovoltaic production exceeds the internal demand of the complex.
Along with the energy project, the company announced the expansion and equipping of Technical School No. 1 in Recreo. The works include a Natural Sciences laboratory and an Electromechanical workshop that will benefit more than 600 students .
He also presented the “Vivir Mejor” Urban Nature Reserve, a six-hectare space dedicated to the conservation of the native forest and environmental education activities.
During the inauguration, the governor of Catamarca, Raúl Jalil, highlighted the impact of the new solar park and Arcor's industrial presence in the province, where the company is among the main job creators.
The commissioning of the 6.6 MW marks Arcor's entry into distributed solar power generation with its own assets. For the Recreo Industrial Complex, the change is significant: up to nine out of every ten units of electricity consumed during the year can come from the new photovoltaic installation.
