Argentina 's Wholesale Electricity Market Management Company SA (CAMMESA) awarded 320 MW of dispatch priority in the first quarter 2026 call for the Renewable Energy Term Market (MATER).
In total, eight projects were awarded out of 10 initiatives that competed for 456.8 MW in a call for proposals hampered by the transport capacity available to supply the large users of the system.
Most of the power allocated on this occasion corresponds to wind energy, with 215 MW spread across five parks , while solar added 105 MW through four developments .
The most notable aspect of this call for bids is the return of Patagonia to the map of allocations, as the Patagonia - Buenos Aires Province corridor concentrated 215 MW , after several quarterly rounds without allocations in that region, historically strategic for wind power development due to its load factors.

However, the call also again showed the structural limitation of the system: 290 MW of the 320 MW awarded entered through the Referential A mechanism , a scheme that implies the possibility of up to 8% curtailment until the corresponding transmission works are carried out.
While the remaining 30 MW were accessed under the MATER Pleno scheme , that is, without evacuation conditions.
Among those awarded is Genneia , the largest renewable energy generator in Argentina, which obtained 150 MW for its Los Sabios wind project , distributed in two dispatch priority requests (stages I and II), consolidating itself as the main winner of the round.
AES Argentina once again competed and secured significant allocations within the Term Market for the expansion of ongoing projects. It received approval for 65 MW of wind power, including Vientos Bonaerenses IV (15 MW) and Phase II of the Vientos del Atlántico Wind Farm (50 MW) .
The list is completed by CAPEX , which obtained priority for a 57 MW solar park ; CLA Nehuen Antu , with 18 MW from an initiative articulated between the Millaqueo, Meliquina Mapuche community and Sustentar Energía; Ambiente y Energía SA , with 20 MW in the province of Formosa ; and DQD Energy , the generating division of the largest EPCist in the country, with 10 MW assigned for the El Chañar solar park .
In addition to the Patagonian corridor, the geographical distribution included 75 MW in Comahue and 30 MW in the Misiones - Northeast Argentine - Litoral corridor .
MATER continues to expand its portfolio
With this award, the private sector market continues to add projects and, according to CAMMESA data, the MATER project now has more than 3646 MW enabled .
That volume is distributed between 795 MW under Reference A, 2369 MW within the full scheme and another 504 MW operating in the spot market .
In total, the universe comprises 66 power plants , including 43 solar, 36 wind and one hydroelectric , which confirms that corporate interest in contracting renewable generation remains active, although conditioned by the availability of transport infrastructure.
