The call for bids is called "AlmaSADI" as reported by Energía Estratégica, while the opening of bids will be spread between May and June, and the projects to be submitted must have between 10 MW and 150 MW of BESS power.
The Argentine government launched the AlmaSADI tender for 700 MW of stand-alone energy storage systems , aiming to reinforce critical nodes of the Argentine Interconnected System (SADI) and reduce power outages in various regions. The tender, formalized through Resolution SE 50/2026 , anticipates an estimated investment of USD 700 million and contracts of up to 15 years.
As Energía Estratégica had announced months ago, the executive branch moved forward with a scheme that will ultimately have CAMMESA as the offtaker, where remuneration is based on power availability. The submission of technical and administrative bids ( Envelope A) is scheduled for May 8 , with evaluation taking place until May 21 and the corresponding rating published on May 28. Meanwhile, the opening and evaluation of financial bids (Envelope B) will be held on June 5 , with the award expected on June 19 and contracts signed starting June 25, 2026 .
In this way, the entire process is concentrated into less than four months, from the publication of the tender documents to the signing of the contract. Regarding the deadlines for the commissioning of the awarded projects, January 1, 2027, is the target date for the start of the contract period, while December 31, 2029, is set as the deadline for the commercial operation of the awarded projects. AlmaSADI will focus on the Litoral and Northeast regions of Argentina as the main areas for the installation of BESS (65% of the total tendered capacity), and the awarded power will be distributed as follows:
Buenos Aires (excluding AMBA): 150 MW
Center: 100 MW
La Pampa: 50 MW
Coastal: 220 MW
Northeast Argentina (NEA): 250 MW
Northwest Argentina (NOA): 120 MW
The projects must offer between 10 MW and 150 MW of power , or the specific capacity indicated at the Connection Nodes; in addition, a maximum requirement of 180 complete charge and discharge cycles per year is established, along with the obligation to guarantee the provision of committed power for at least four consecutive hours . The tender is based on the precedent set by AlmaGBA , the first large-scale stand-alone storage initiative in the country, in which 713 MW were awarded at critical nodes in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area . That call for bids exceeded the initial target by more than 40%, with an estimated investment of over USD 540 million , and involved 15 companies that submitted 27 projects totaling 1,347 MW, with the corresponding works currently underway. Economic Signal: Cap of USD 12,500/MW-month and Incentive Structure. The tender establishes a Maximum Award Value of USD 12,500 per MW-month for the Offered Value, sending a clear signal about the economic ceiling that the State is willing to recognize for available storage capacity. The monthly capacity remuneration will be calculated as: (Offered Value + Incentive Value) multiplied by the Annual Factor (AF) , the Seasonality Factor (SF) , the Available Storage Capacity, and the ratio between Validated Storage Hours and Committed Hours. The Annual Factor will be 1.30 in 2026; 1.25 in 2027; 1.10 in 2028; 1.00 between 2029 and 2036; and 0.50 between 2037 and 2041.
While the
The Seasonality Factor will be 1.20 for the months of January, February, March, June, July, and December; and 0.80 for April, May, August, September, October, and November. Additionally, the Storage Agreement will stipulate payment for the energy supplied at a rate of USD 10/MWh until 2037, after which remuneration will be governed by the Spot Market. Concurrently, until commercial operation begins, the successful bidders must comply with a progressive payment schedule to the OED (Energy Storage and Distribution Authority).
Within 10 business days after the award, they must pay the equivalent in pesos to
USD 4000/MW awarded . Subsequently, quarterly payments will be USD 4,000 per MW until the fourth quarter of 2027; USD 6000/MW during 2028; and USD 8000/MW during 2029.
