The Ministry of Energy has begun the process of updating the National Energy Efficiency Plan, an instrument established by Law No. 21,305 on Energy Efficiency, which must be renewed every five years. In this context, the Regional Secretary of Energy for Atacama, Manuel Nanjarí Contreras , called on citizens, civil society organizations, trade associations, businesses, academia, and public agencies in the region to participate in its development.
The invitation seeks to gather the different experiences, needs and proposals from the territories to contribute to the definition of the measures that Chile will promote in terms of energy efficiency during the next five years.
Natural and legal persons who register in the List of Interested Parties may receive information on the different stages of the process, participate in dialogue instances and public hearings, make observations and provide background information that contributes to the preparation of the new Plan.
“We want Atacama to be an active participant in the decisions that will shape Chile’s energy future. Energy efficiency not only means using energy better, but also reducing costs, improving competitiveness, and moving towards more sustainable development. Therefore, we invite individuals, businesses, trade associations, organizations, and the academic community in our region to participate and contribute their ideas and experience,” stated the Regional Secretary of Energy, Manuel Nanjarí.

The National Energy Efficiency Plan defines goals, measures and guidelines to promote the efficient use of energy in different areas of national life, contributing to the sustainable development of the country, the competitiveness of the productive sectors and the well-being of people.
Citizen participation will be a fundamental component of this process, as it will allow the incorporation of diverse perspectives and territorial realities in defining the actions that Chile will develop over the next five years.
Registrations will be available until September 3rd.
