Mexico's Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) is preparing a new series of tenders to expand and modernize the country's electricity grid, with a portfolio of 32 projects encompassing 245 transmission and transformation works during the second half of 2026.
The package represents an approximate investment of 35.904 billion Mexican pesos and is part of the 2026–2030 Expansion Plan, in a context marked by the growth of demand, the installation of new industrial centers and the incorporation of greater generation capacity.
In total, the portfolio includes 107 transmission line projects and 138 interventions in electrical substations , with a scope of 2152 circuit kilometers , 7180 MVA of transformation , 2208 MVAr of reactive compensation and 124 feeders.
The execution will be distributed among three modalities: 16 projects through CFE Fibra E, two under budgeted public works and another 14 through financed public works .
The objective is to expand the capacity for transporting and transforming electricity, reduce operational restrictions, and strengthen the reliability of the National Electric System in regions with new consumption and generation needs.
Among the investments financed through CFE Fibra E is the San José Iturbide Banco 4 project, in Guanajuato, which includes seven works, 300 MVA of transformation and 76 circuit kilometers of lines.
Also included is El Arrajal Banco 1 and associated network , in Baja California, with eight works, 300 MVA of transformation and around 260 circuit kilometers intended to reinforce the supply of San Felipe and its areas of influence.
New corridors for industry and generation
Under the public works schemes, the portfolio includes larger-scale projects in different parts of the country.
In Jalisco, Guadalajara Industrial Bank 2 includes 18 expansion and modernization projects for substations and lines, along with 300 MVA of new transformation capacity.
The infrastructure aims to strengthen the network in one of Mexico's main urban and industrial regions.

In the southeast, the Energy Supply project in Tabasco includes ten works distributed between Chiapas and Tabasco, with transmission, transformation and reactive compensation infrastructure.
Another of the outstanding developments is the Northwest-North Generation Integration Transmission Network, Stage 4 , between Chihuahua and Coahuila.
The package comprises five projects, including the 400 kV, 238-kilometer-circuit Torreón Sur–Derramadero line, as well as reactive compensation infrastructure.
With this project, CFE seeks to strengthen the high-voltage network and facilitate the incorporation of new electricity generation in the northern corridor of the country.
245 projects also open up opportunities for suppliers
The portfolio will have an impact beyond the construction of lines and substations.
The processes will open up opportunities for companies specializing in engineering, construction, manufacturing, supply and installation of electrical equipment .
The main components planned include autotransformers, power transformers, capacitors, reactors, STATCOM systems, switches, metal structures, conductors, insulators, and fiber optic guard wires.
In terms of contracts, 11 projects will be processed through the Special Scheme Contracting System (SCOEE), while the other 21 will use the CFE's tender microsite.
The publications are planned between October 2026 and March 2027 , so the portfolio will extend recruitment opportunities over the next few months.
With these 245 projects, CFE seeks to prepare the infrastructure for a stage of greater electricity demand, industrial expansion and the entry of new generation, once again placing transmission as one of the main investment fronts of the Mexican energy system.
