The Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) presented its portfolio of 58 transmission and transformation projects for 2026-2027, a strategy that seeks to strengthen the National Transmission Network (RNT) through greater participation of the private sector.
The portfolio includes 49 tender packages encompassing 58 projects , which translate into 387 works, including 138 transmission lines and 249 electrical substations, to be tendered between 2026 and the first half of 2027. The projects are part of the 2025-2030 Expansion Plan and will cover 2,702.9 kilometers of lines and will add more than 10,500 MVA of transformation capacity, in order to strengthen the system and meet the country's growing energy demand.
A significant part of the portfolio will be financed through CFE Fibra E, a scheme through which 44 projects will be developed, grouped into 35 tender packages, totaling 1288.8 km in length and 6555 MVA of transmission capacity.
The remaining 14 projects (same amount of competition package) will be executed under the Public Works Financed (OPF) model, and will add 1414.1 km of networks for 3975 MVA.
In March 2026 alone, five projects are already in the bidding process with an investment of over 1,048 million pesos, while in the following months, 14 additional projects are expected to be tendered for more than 6,700 million pesos, through Fibra E financing.
Subsequently, under the same modality, the plan includes two additional bidding blocks.
Block 1 , scheduled for the second half of 2026 , includes 15 projects in 9 tender packages , totaling 102 works , including 32 transmission lines and 70 substations , with an approximate capacity of 2,800 MVA .
Block 2 , planned for the first half of 2027 , groups 10 projects into 7 tender packages , with 131 works , 78 electric transport lines and 53 substations , contributing around 2,830 MVA additional to the system.
In addition, between 2026 and the first half of 2027, but through OPF, tenders will be carried out for the 14 infrastructure projects that foresee investments of around 32,125 million Mexican pesos , with deadlines ranging from 365 to 585 days, depending on the complexity of the project.
From the Ministry of Energy, the Undersecretary of Planning and Energy Transition, Jorge Marcial Islas Samperio , emphasized that the energy sector will be responsible for more than 50% of the Infrastructure Investment Plan for Development with Well-being, with a key role for the CFE.During the presentation, the operation of the procurement microsite was also revealed, a platform designed to guarantee open, competitive and transparent processes at each stage of the competitions, with details below.
