The National Energy Commission (CNE) published the Preliminary Proposal of Necessary and Urgent Works 2026, in accordance with the provisions of Article 91 bis of the General Law of Electrical Services (LGSE), initiating the citizen participation process for receiving observations from interested parties.
The Necessary and Urgent Works mechanism allows for the acceleration of the execution of essential transmission projects to safeguard the electricity supply and the quality of service, in those cases where the times associated with the regular planning process could be insufficient to address urgent system requirements.
The proposal considers two expansion initiatives aimed at strengthening the electrical infrastructure in the southern part of the country.

The first project involves the expansion of the Tineo 220 kV Substation through the addition of a 200 MW, 400 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). This project will increase the security and reliability of the electricity supply south of the Cautín Substation, while also contributing to better energy management in the area.

The second initiative involves increasing the capacity of the 2x66 kV Lastarria-Loncoche line, a project that seeks to ensure the supply of electricity demand in the municipalities of Loncoche, Villarrica, Pucón, Pullinque and Panguipulli, given the growth in energy requirements of the territory.
The preliminary portfolio considers a reference investment of approximately US$77.1 million, complying with the budgetary limits established by current regulations.
Individuals, institutions, and organizations registered in the Citizen Participation Registry may submit comments on this proposal until October 14, 2026, which will be considered in the preparation of the final proposal.
