The interest generated by AlmaSADI already anticipates a new scale for the storage market in Argentina, to the point that industry sources predict that bids could quadruple the 700 MW initially tendered —expandable to 770 MW—.
For Marsh, this dynamic could mark the beginning of a new era for renewables in the country. “We are very optimistic about 2026. I believe it will be another year of growth and consolidation for renewable energy,” stated Fernando López , Energy Manager at Marsh Specialty.
“We are even actively participating in the coverage of the BESS projects already tendered in AlmaGBA and currently under construction. We are also participating in the analysis of the tender documents for the upcoming projects in the current AlmaSADI tender,” he added during a prominent interview at FES Argentina.

But growth will be conditioned by infrastructure and capital, a discourse repeated throughout the last few years but which now gains more strength from the concessions planned for priority works established by the National Energy Secretariat.
“The need for investment in transmission lines and foreign direct investment will be key to continuing the growth phase,” said López, focusing on one of the main bottlenecks in the market.

The technical specifications for the AMBA I transmission project are expected to be released soon, a necessary step before the publication of the financial specifications and the formal opening of the bidding process. The project will encompass the 220 kV and 500 kV lines and the transformer substation, and will include more than 500 kilometers of power lines to improve supply capacity in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area, given that the region accounts for approximately 40% of the national electricity demand.
Meanwhile, the AlmaSADI tender for stand-alone BESS systems is facing timeline challenges. Although the award date has been moved to July 8th and commissioning is still scheduled for January 2027, private stakeholders acknowledge off the record that the deadlines “remain very demanding for construction and equipment supply.”

In this context, Marsh sees the advancement of energy storage as opening a new discussion on risk management, hedging, and project design. Therefore, the company's role involves addressing new risks associated with batteries, regulatory changes, and transfer needs.
“ How do our services differ? Faced with the same needs but different approaches, we have specialized engineers to support risk management and mapping, security measure analysis, and we often collaborate on the design of our clients' projects,” explained López.
“We also have firms specializing in human resources, management, and capital consulting. And then, everything related to transferable risk management in insurance brokerage and receiving,” he explained.
