Future Energy Summit (FES) is counting down to two of its upcoming stops in Latin America. Peru will host the energy sector on September 28 at the InterContinental Real Lima Miraflores Hotel, while Colombia will do the same on October 1 at the JW Marriott Hotel Bogotá, with only a few tickets remaining for both events.
The two meetings will also take place at a particular time for their respective markets. Peru is looking to transform a portfolio of over 22 GW of solar and wind projects into new operational capacity , while Colombia is analyzing how to integrate recently awarded projects, strengthen system reliability, and advance in energy storage.
The joint agenda for this stage of FES will be marked by renewables, storage, regulation, investment, project development, technology and new business opportunities , with executives, developers, manufacturers, investors and industry leaders meeting first in Lima and a few days later in Bogotá.
Peru: More than 22 GW seek to make the leap to operation
The first item on the agenda will be Lima. FES Peru will hold its second edition on September 28 , at a time when the market presents a significant difference between the number of projects projected and the capacity that actually came into operation.

Currently, the country has 2,116.7 MW of operational wind and solar power. However, it has over 22 GW of both technologies under development . In turn, only 3,714 MW have a Definitive Generation Concession , a snapshot that reflects the ongoing challenge of transforming these initiatives into projects under construction and commercial operation.
This scenario will bring to the forefront during FES Peru the regulatory, financial, and network infrastructure challenges necessary to unlock investments. Transmission, new market rules, and flexibility mechanisms are among the factors that will shape the next phase of renewable energy expansion.

Energy storage will also gain prominence. The Peruvian BESS market projects a potential of nearly 700 MW by 2030 , while discussions begin regarding ancillary services and their role within a system with greater renewable energy penetration, as well as the economic signals needed to accelerate new investments.
In this context, representatives from the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) of Peru and César Butrón, president of the Board of Directors of COES , will be part of an agenda that will also bring together some of the main executives of the energy market.
Among them will be Jaime Toledo, CEO for South America of ACCIONA Energía; Marco Fragale, CEO of Orygen; Juan Elías Salinas, general manager of Fenix Power; Rosa María Flores-Araoz, CEO of Kallpa Generación; Guillermo Grande, CEO of EDF Perú; Carlos Travezaño, general manager of Inland Energy (Luz del Sur); and Jefry Arce, operations manager of Celaris Energy .
They will be joined by representatives from Yinson Renewables, Statkraft, Pluz Perú, FMO, AFRY, Solar DQD, Ventus and Grupo Elecnor , among other actors linked to the development, financing, operation and infrastructure of projects.
The event will also feature a strong presence of manufacturers and technology providers , with companies such as Huawei, CATL, Antai, Factiun Sungrow and JA Solar , among others, focusing on solutions for renewable generation, storage, digitalization and modernization of the electrical system.

Colombia: New auctions? And the debate over reliability
Just three days later, the tour will continue in Colombia , where on October 1st Bogotá will bring together some of the main players in the energy market at the JW Marriott Hotel.
The Colombian situation presents other challenges. The country awarded approximately 1.8 GW corresponding to the Reliability Charge , in addition to 995 MW of solar capacity accompanied by 100 MW of battery storage in the long-term auction, which left two projects unawarded . The market must now analyze to what extent these resources cover projected needs through 2030 and what additional capacity will be required.

María Nohemi Arboleda announced that no new calls for bids are expected during 2026, although the Executive is working with the Energy and Gas Regulatory Commission (CREG) on the recovery of mechanisms that will allow the needs identified in 2027 to be met.
CREG itself confirmed in Circular 341 that it is in the planning, review and analysis phase of the upcoming OEF allocation auctions , without yet establishing the volumes that will be called.
In addition, the regulator's executive director, Adriana Jiménez, publicly announced that the entity is working on different mechanisms: an administered auction for 2027-2028, a purchase reconfiguration for the periods 2027-2028-2029 and a possible new expansion auction .
The new Minister of Mines and Energy, María Nohemí Arboleda , assumed office on August 7th in a market that must coordinate new generation, network expansion, reliability and investment signals.
Among the participants will be Esteban Arroyave, Vice President of Generation Projects at Isagen; María Juliana Tascón, Country Manager for Colombia at Ecoener; Óscar Bravo, President of Terpel; María Inés Agudelo Valencia, President of the Colombian Mercantile Exchange (BMC); Chiara Gasparrini, Vice President of Development for Latin America at Krelo (Promigas); Simón Pérez, Investment Platforms Leader at Celsia; Adriana Ascencio, Generation Manager at Erco; Antonio Crisol, Head of Enel Green Power Colombia; Claudia Marcela Uribe Arroyave, Business Development Manager at ISA Energía; and Andrés Cuervo, Business Development Director at Atlas Renewable Energy .

The meeting will also include representatives from Patria, Marsh, Financiera de Desarrollo Nacional (FDN), ANDESCO, DQD, Ventus and Atera , along with manufacturers and technology providers such as CATL, Sungrow, JinkoSolar and SunCompany , among other actors linked to the development, financing, generation, storage and infrastructure of the Colombian energy market.
The presence of generators, developers, energy companies, and suppliers will complement the opportunities opened by the new awards with the necessary technical, regulatory, and financial conditions to execute the projects.
In this way, Lima and Bogotá will function as two consecutive stops to evaluate markets with different starting points but converging challenges : converting renewable portfolios into operational projects, incorporating storage, ensuring sufficient infrastructure, and generating rules that allow for the support of new investments.
With the latest tickets available , Future Energy Summit will concentrate in less than a week two central debates for the regional energy map: how to unlock more than 22 GW of renewables in Peru and how to integrate nearly 9,500 MW committed in Colombia , while BESS, regulation, networks and new auctions gain prominence in investment decisions.
