Chile 's National Electric Coordinator (CEN) opened the administrative and technical bids for the tender for the construction and execution of transmission works included in Exempt Decrees No. 4 of 2024, No. 200 of 2022, and No. 185 of 2021. Specifically, the process received interest from ten companies : Tucapel Energía, Changshu Fengfan Power, Monlux, Sistema de Transmisión del Sur, Ametel, Conexión Kimal Lo Aguirre, Elecnor, Bac Ingenieros, PowerChina, and Quantum Energy . These companies submitted bids for 28 transmission projects, with execution periods ranging from 18 to 60 months, primarily for expanding electrical substations within Chile's National Electric System (SEN). Although it should be mentioned that another 15 projects were left without bids (8 of which were withdrawn from the process just weeks before submitting a bid), despite the fact that several of these works were re-tendered after non-compliance with the obligations established in the 2023 process, despite the fact that at that time there were seven interested companies ( see note ). One of the peculiarities is that Elecnor was the only company that bid on the work that will demand the most time and money to carry out: Laying the second circuit of the 2x500 kV Ancoa - Charrúa line.
The project has a reference investment value of over USD 60,200,000, representing more than a third of the total call for proposals. Ametel (Andaluza de Montajes Eléctricos y Telefónicos) submitted the most proposals (10), followed by Monlux (6) and Sistema de Transmisión del Sur (5). Those initiatives that meet the requirements and submit all the required information will advance in the bidding process, and the financial bids will be revealed on Thursday, November 14.
The contract will be awarded on the 22nd of that month. It should be noted that each proposal submitted under this call for bids will be valid for at least 300 business days from the closing date of the proposal submission period. The bids are listed below, one by one:
