The technological competition within the global solar tracker market has entered a new chapter. Nextpower announced it has filed a lawsuit against GameChange Energy for alleged patent infringement in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware.
The company maintains that the Genius Tracker systems and associated software marketed by GameChange use technologies covered by three patents linked to its self-powered solar tracking system and the TrueCapture™ energy management platform.
GameChange Energy responded that "the Genius Tracker has been developed independently by the company."
The presentation involves two of the leading players in the global photovoltaic industry. Nextpower has already shipped over 160 GW of trackers globally and reported revenues of USD 3.56 billion during its 2026 fiscal year , while GameChange Energy has delivered over 63 GW and installed more than 92.5 million solar modules on its structures.

In addition to financial compensation, Nextpower seeks access to the measures provided for by US patent law, including possible injunctions.
GameChange defends the independent development of its technology
After the legal filing became public, GameChange Energy rejected the accusations and confirmed that it will mount a full defense against the claims made by its competitor.
“GameChange Energy denies the allegations included in the lawsuit and intends to mount a full and vigorous defense. GameChange Energy’s Genius Tracker is recognized in the industry as one of the leading solar tracking systems for demanding weather environments,” the company stated in a press release.
“The solution integrates energy optimization algorithms, easy-to-install systems, and the support of GameChange Energy’s specialized project management capabilities,” the statement adds.
The company also arrives at this stage backed by a strong international presence. According to its corporate data, GameChange Energy's systems have already supplied over 63 GW , with more than 92.5 million solar modules installed . Furthermore, it estimates that its projects will offset approximately 1.3 billion tons of carbon dioxide over the next 25 years .
GameChange Energy adds that it has been recognized as one of the top three solar tracker companies worldwide by independent market research.
