Following a request for a study by the Secretariat of Energy, our Subcommittee on Construction Carpentry and Lightweight Integrated Facades has carried out an investigation that was accompanied by the experience of the National Institute of Industrial Technology (INTI) and CONICET Mendoza.
As a result of this work, in May 2018 we published the IRAM 11507-6 SCarpintería de construcción standard.

Part 6 - Energy efficiency labelling.
This document provides a methodology for calculating the energy performance of windows installed in air-conditioned homes, allowing them to be segmented according to five climate zones, defining the energy gains and losses for both heating and cooling, based on the area of the window.
For its part, the Energy Secretariat recently launched a calculation tool that allows users to obtain these values. Also read: "What changes does the IRAM 11900 Standard introduce in the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency?" Considering a comparative scale of seven energy efficiency classes, identified by letters (from A to G), the label provides the user with valuable information about how efficient the window they wish to purchase is.
It also details the specific characteristics of the product itself: measurements, thermal transmittance (this value allows you to know the level of thermal insulation of the window), solar factor, air infiltration and type of glass.
Thus, the entry into force of IRAM 11507-6 (for the moment in a voluntary application scope), allows manufacturers to label their windows and thus report the energy rating for each seasonal period (winter/summer), taking into account the geographical area of the project's location.
It should be noted that in order to be labelled, the window must first comply with the classification requirements indicated in IRAM 11507-1 SCremintería de obra.
