The National Electric Energy Commission (CNEE) authorized the connection of new generation projects to the National Interconnected System (SNI).
This was made official through the publication of nine resolutions during January 2025. These resolutions cover eight Renewable Distributed Generation projects totaling more than 30 MW of installed photovoltaic solar capacity and one 12.08 MW natural gas-fired thermal project. The OOXOL SA thermal project obtained authorization for access to transmission capacity for the project, known as the OXXOL Natural Gas-Fired Power Plant, with a maximum capacity of 12.08 MW at the required connection point in the municipality of Flores. Regarding the renewable energy installations, the eight authorized projects utilize photovoltaic technology, opting for panels with varying efficiencies but with capacities ranging from 550 Wp to 665 Wp. Tikal Energy SA is the entity that obtained the most approvals in this initial phase of the year.
In the three projects presented by the company—Santa Ana Photovoltaic Solar Plant, Las Cruces Photovoltaic Solar Plant, and San Benito Photovoltaic Solar Plant—just over 11,000 550 Wp photovoltaic modules will be installed, totaling 4,998 kW of installed capacity connected to the Eastern Electricity Distribution Company's (Distribuidora de Electricidad de Oriente ) distribution network. Within the same distributor's concession area, Aumenta SA received approval for the 5,000 kW El Reverendo Solar Park, which will be comprised of 11,900 panels with a capacity of 580 Wp each. Progresol SA also received approval to connect its 4,000 kW Progresol Photovoltaic Project to the same distributor, which will consist of 8,500 modules of 665 Wp each. Energía e Inversiones Guatemala SA also opted to develop its Energía Verde El Rosario project with the Eastern Electricity Distribution Company.
This photovoltaic solar project has a capacity of 5,000 kW, comprised of 10,560 panels with a capacity of 665 Wp each. On the distribution network of Empresa Eléctrica de Guatemala SA (EEGSA) , the company Granja Solar El Cerrito received approval for its eponymous 960 kW project, which would consist of approximately 2,352 panels of 665 W DC each. Additionally, the Western Electricity Distribution Company (Distribuidora de Electricidad de Occidente) also approved at least one project during January 2025.

This is the case of the project promoted by Inversiones Sur Mazate SA called Sur Mazate of 4,520 kW from 6,250 panels of 580 Wp each.
