The Board of Directors of the National Electric Energy Company (ENEE) selected the Windey-Equinsa consortium as the winner of the International Public Tender LPI-001-ENEE-UEPER-2024 .
"The outcome of the bidding process was quite successful," said Erick Tejada Carbajal , Secretary of State for Energy and General Manager of ENEE .
According to the tender documents, the winning bidder will be responsible for the study, design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of a grid-connected battery energy storage system.
The BESS project, which will be located at the Amarateca Substation, will have a capacity of 75MW/300MWh (50 MW for block 1 and 25 MW for block 2), with a power factor of 0.90.

Regarding the useful life, 25 years are considered for the system excluding batteries; while for the batteries, which will be of lithium-ion technology, a useful life of 10 years from the start of service or 6000 cycles must be guaranteed, whichever comes first.
