Latin America ended 2025 with a sharp drop in the number of wind turbines installed and a regional market led by Vestas, Goldwind and Nordex Group.
According to the GWEC Market Intelligence Supply Side Data 2025 report, the region installed 556 wind turbines during the year, a volume 60% lower than in 2024 .
In terms of power, the new installations reached 2,856 MW , reflecting a year of lower activity for Latin American wind power compared to the pace observed in previous years.
The regional supplier ranking was led by Vestas , with a 44.34% share.

Goldwind came in second place with 26.22% , while Nordex Group completed the podium with 16.07% .
Further behind were Enercon , with 9.73% ; Siemens Gamesa , with 2.14% ; WEG , with 1.27% ; and Mingyang , with 0.22% .

Brazil accounted for more than half of the installed turbines
Brazil once again became the main wind energy market in Latin America.
Of the 556 turbines installed in the region during 2025 , 287 units were located in Brazil. This represents 51% of the regional total and confirms the importance of the Brazilian market in the development of wind energy in Latin America.
Brazil's performance is crucial in explaining the regional picture. When the country slows its rate of integration, the impact is directly felt across the entire Latin American balance.
In the case of Vestas , Brazil accounted for 47% of its new regional installations during 2025. Even so, the company's installations in that market were 22% lower than in 2024 .
Goldwind also had a significant presence in Brazil, with 74 turbines installed for a total of 445 MW . In addition, it registered 37 units for 218 MW in Argentina and 13 units for 86 MW in Chile .
Nordex Group , for its part, installed turbines in Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Colombia , maintaining a distributed presence in different markets of the region.
Vestas maintains regional leadership
Vestas regained its position as the leading supplier of wind turbines in Latin America by 2025.
The Danish company achieved a market share of 44.34% , maintaining its lead in the regional ranking. However, its share was almost three percentage points lower than the previous year.
Vestas' leadership is supported by a consolidated track record in Latin America, operation and maintenance contracts, experience in large-scale projects and a presence in the region's main wind energy markets.
In a year of lower volume, the projects that reached effective installation continued to concentrate on suppliers with execution capacity, local presence and accumulated technical experience.
Goldwind holds second place in the ranking
Goldwind ranked as the second largest supplier of wind turbines in Latin America during 2025, with a 26.22% market share.
The Chinese company moved up one position compared to 2024 and displaced Nordex Group from second place regionally.
Its activity was concentrated mainly in three markets: Brazil, Argentina, and Chile . In Brazil, it installed 74 turbines totaling 445 MW ; in Argentina, 37 units totaling 218 MW ; and in Chile, 13 units totaling 86 MW .
The data shows the growing presence of Chinese manufacturers in Latin America, in line with a global trend in which these suppliers are gaining industrial scale, delivery volume and participation in different international markets.
Nordex, Enercon, Siemens Gamesa and WEG complete the regional map
Nordex Group ranked third in the Latin American ranking, with a 16.07% share.
The company had facilities in Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Colombia , showing a diversified regional presence despite the overall decline in installed volume.
Enercon ranked fourth, with 9.73% , while Siemens Gamesa came in fifth, with 2.14% . Both companies moved up one position compared to 2024.
WEG, a Brazilian manufacturer, came in sixth place with a 1.27% share, after dropping two positions in the regional ranking.
The supplier map shows a region still led by European manufacturers, with a growing presence of Chinese players and occasional participation from regional suppliers.
Mingyang lands in Brazil with a 6.25 MW prototype
One of the report's highlights is Mingyang 's first foray into Latin America.
The company installed a 6.25 MW prototype unit in Brazil, marking its entry into the regional market.
Its market share in 2025 was still marginal, at 0.22% of the Latin American market. However, this figure is relevant given Mingyang's global profile, as it is one of the fastest-growing Chinese manufacturers in the international wind energy industry.
The installation of the prototype in Brazil can be interpreted as an early sign of interest in the region, especially in a market that still represents a small portion of the global volume, but which maintains competitive wind resources and medium-term growth opportunities.
The region accounted for only 2% of units installed globally
The contrast with the global market is vast.
Globally, 28,395 wind turbines were installed in 2025, equivalent to 178,227 MW . Of that total, Asia Pacific accounted for 75% of the units , Europe 12% , North America 9% , Latin America 2% , and Africa & the Middle East another 2% .
The global supplier ranking was led by Goldwind , with a 16.67% market share. It was followed by Envision , with 12.23% ; Windey , with 11.11% ; Mingyang , with 10.41% ; and SANY , with 8.45% .
Vestas ranked sixth globally, with 7.26% , although it maintained leading positions in Latin America and North America.
The comparison shows that Latin America still has a small presence in the global wind energy market. While Asia Pacific accounts for the majority of the volume, the Latin American region depends on a few key markets and the speed with which new projects are launched.
