Intersolar Mexico concluded its seventh edition at Centro Banamex with a remarkable increase in attendance. During the three-day event, the number of people attending the Intersolar Mexico exhibition increased by more than 50% compared to 2015 , reflecting renewed momentum in the solar energy and storage markets in Mexico.
Together with Aquatech Mexico, the events welcomed more than 11,000 attendees and over 350 exhibitors, bringing together technology providers, developers, integrators, investors, energy users, government representatives, industry organizations and academia for three days of business, technology exchange and professional networking.
The Intersolar Mexico conference program also achieved record participation, with over 860 people attending the International Congress and the Innovation Forum. Fifty-six speakers from Mexico, Germany, Spain, Colombia, the United States, and Denmark participated, including industry experts, government representatives, and academics, 50% of whom were women. Combined attendance at both events also increased compared to 2025, reinforcing Intersolar Mexico's role as a platform for market knowledge, technical expertise, and the exchange of information on the developments shaping the solar industry in Mexico.
The participation of government representatives was especially significant this year, reflecting the growing dialogue between public institutions and the solar industry. Senator Olga Patricia Sosa Ruiz, Secretary of the Senate Energy Committee, inaugurated the event, while Dr. Mariano Birlain, Director General of Technological Development and Access to Energy at the Ministry of Energy (SENER), delivered the keynote address on the Federal Government's energy priorities and its plans to incorporate new renewable and storage capacity. Fidel Carrasco, Coordinator at SENER, presented one of the Federal Government's main solar initiatives: the development of two hybrid concentrated solar power (CSP) and photovoltaic projects in Baja California Sur.

“Mexico plans to add 32,000 MW of new capacity by 2030, of which 22,000 MW will come from renewable sources. The challenge is not only to generate more energy, but to do so efficiently, reliably, and affordably, with solar energy playing a fundamental role in building a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable energy future,” Senator Sosa Ruiz stated.
During his keynote address, Dr. Mariano Birlain elaborated on these perspectives and noted that Mexico aims to achieve 99.99% electricity coverage by 2030. He also highlighted the role that solar energy and storage will play in the planned expansion, with approximately 14,000 MW of new solar capacity and 5,500 MW of storage.
Fidel Carrasco indicated that the two hybrid CSP and photovoltaic projects will add 300 MW of solar capacity and incorporate up to 16 hours of thermal energy storage. The bidding process is scheduled for the last quarter of 2026, and the projects are also expected to boost the development of a national value chain.

The federal perspective was complemented by the participation of representatives from the governments of Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, Querétaro, and Mexico City, who incorporated regional priorities into the discussions on energy demand, industrial development, investment, energy efficiency, and energy transition.
Industry specialists also contributed market and technology perspectives. Carla Ortiz, President of ASOLMEX and CEO of RER Energy, highlighted the potential of photovoltaic self-consumption, noting that permits for approximately 130 MW have been granted, while solar energy currently represents only 15% of that capacity. Sayra Gómez, a researcher at the German Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Energy (ISE), emphasized Mexico's great potential for industrial solar heat, with more than 130 installations already supplying heat to industrial processes in the country by 2025 and significant opportunities for continued growth.
The positive response was also evident on the exhibition floor, where exhibitors highlighted both the quality of the audience and the business opportunities generated during the event.
“At Intersolar Mexico I found qualified visitors, an expo with a very good audience,” said Javier García López, General Director of GAAL Instruments-HIOKI.
“The attendees are highly qualified and show genuine interest in the solutions we offer. This has allowed us to have relevant conversations and generate concrete business opportunities during the event,” said Ernesto Kuri, Sales Director and distributor of the Power Road brand.
“What we experienced during these three days confirms the important role of Intersolar Mexico in bringing the market together. The participation of the industry and the closer dialogue with government representatives create a very positive foundation for further developing the event, and we see great potential to continue expanding the exhibition in 2027,” said Florian Wessendorf, Managing Director of Solar Promotion International GmbH.
The next edition of Intersolar Mexico will take place from September 7 to 9, 2027 at Centro Banamex, Mexico City.
