The Chamber of Generators and Value Chain of Renewable Energies (CEA) highlights the enactment of the law that extends until December 31, 2045 the validity of article 17 of Law 27.191, consolidating a long-term horizon of predictability for the development of renewable energies in Argentina.
The 20-year extension of this regime is a positive sign for the continuity and deepening of investments in renewable generation, by providing greater legal and fiscal certainty to projects that, by their nature, require significant capital outlays and long-term recovery horizons.
At CEA, we consider it especially important that the measure provides continuity to a regulatory framework that has supported the development of the Argentine renewable energy industry over the last decade and has allowed the incorporation of new generation capacity and significant private investments in different regions of the country.
Since 2016, Argentina has mobilized more than US$11 billion of direct investment in renewable electricity generation, incorporating more than 6,500 MW of new capacity and taking the share of renewable energy from levels below 2% of electricity consumption to close to 19% in 2025.

Regulatory predictability is a fundamental factor in facilitating access to financing, promoting new investments and sustaining the development of wind, solar, biomass, small hydroelectric and other renewable technology projects, contributing to the strengthening and diversification of the national electricity matrix.
Furthermore, the continuity of the regime will allow renewable energies to continue to support the growth in electricity demand associated with the country's industrial, mining, technological and productive development, providing competitive energy and contributing to an increasingly diversified energy mix.
The CEA emphasizes that the extension of the regime does not imply the creation of new subsidies, but rather the continuity of a predictable framework that favors private investment and allows for the planning of new ventures under clear and long-term rules.
The enactment of this law thus constitutes a relevant step towards consolidating an energy policy with a long-term vision and to continue developing the capabilities that Argentina has built in the area of renewable generation.
At CEA, we reaffirm our commitment to continue working with the public sector, investors, companies in the value chain, and energy users to promote a more competitive, diversified, and sustainable electricity system, taking advantage of the enormous potential of renewable resources that our country has.
