The Dominican Republic 's renewable energy tender resulted in 325.69 MW being awarded out of a total of 600 MW offered , meaning that numerous developments were left without progress at this stage.
Far from withdrawing from these projects, Axial Structural Solutions decided to continue supporting clients while awaiting new opportunities within a market that has already confirmed another call for bids for 300 MW and an independent process to incorporate 200 MW of BESS systems .
"After the bidding process, there are many projects that have been left on the back burner, and that can be understood as a difficult challenge for the project shareholders to bear, but in the end we continue to provide support, even if they are not going to be built immediately," said Pablo Oliva , Sales Manager LATAM of Axial Structural Solutions , during a featured interview at the Future Energy Summit (FES) Caribbean.

The decision is part of a long-term strategy in one of the Caribbean's most active solar markets. As the Dominican Republic surpasses 5,178 MW of renewable energy capacity under concession and accelerates the integration of energy storage to reduce generation outflows, the company seeks to strengthen relationships with developers who could revive their projects in upcoming tenders.
"Ultimately, we want repeat purchases, and for that, we need to maintain an almost personal relationship with our clients, because ultimately it's a give and take of information. These are projects that keep coming in, and at Axial, we want to focus on long-term relationships with clients who trust us and help ensure that their assets are successfully completed," he says.
Over the past few years, this strategy has also driven the company's regional expansion. Axial has built a portfolio of nearly 1.3 GW in the Caribbean, with the Dominican Republic as one of the main markets in its Latin American operations.
According to Oliva, this growth was accompanied by the developers themselves: "We are also seeing that many clients are looking to expand their reach, to cross into other countries and regions, and we always support that. In fact, many times when Axial has entered a new market it is usually at the request of a client."
"It is the clients who take us to other countries because they know that we adapt perfectly to what they require," he emphasized.
Local presence and standards to sustain growth
In addition to sales support, the company believes that its close involvement in construction projects is one of its key differentiators. This strategy includes regular site visits and close contact with all stakeholders involved in the project to identify opportunities for improvement and respond quickly to developers' needs.
"Local presence is key, supporting them, going to the field, visiting the construction sites, seeing that everything is being carried out well, talking to everyone, not only with direct contact, but with those who are on site, those who are in the field, those who drive the hammers, those who screw the screws, with everyone, to get real feedback on what the client needs and what we need to improve on as well," says Oliva.
The focus on the Caribbean market also coincides with the company's technological evolution. Axial recently unveiled Titan , a new generation of trackers for utility-scale projects, designed for higher-power modules, rows up to 160 meters long, and operation in demanding weather conditions.
Looking ahead to the coming months, the focus is on completing the projects currently under development and maintaining the company's established position in the region. At the same time, the company will not alter its strategy despite increased competition.
"For us, what needs to happen is that the company continues to do things right. We can't let up on that standard, we can't ease off the gas pedal because it's a very competitive market," Oliva concludes.
