Solar energy once again dominated a round of the Renewable Energy Term Market (MATER) in Argentina: ten projects requested between 116.3 MW and 224.3 MW of dispatch priority , out of a total of 12 initiatives presented.
While the two remaining developments are wind-powered and require between 25 MW and 125 MW .
On paper, the 12 projects would add up to 903.7 MW of total capacity , but that figure does not represent what is actually competing in this instance; rather, the total dispatch priority demand of this call is between 141.3 MW and 349.3 MW.
Furthermore, all projects are participating under Reference Mechanism A , which allows for up to 8% curtailment until the necessary infrastructure works are completed. Meanwhile, all projects are participating in MATER Pleno except for the Hucalito I wind farm, which requested up to 25 MW.

See the full list of participating projects:
Among the solar proposals, PS El Quemado , by YPF, is the largest project on paper, with 305 MW planned in Mendoza, but it requested a maximum of 20 MW of dispatch priority.
Capex SA is once again participating in a bidding round to supply large users of the MEM, in this case with its Agua del Cajón II solar project , which includes 100 MW in Neuquén and requests between 10 MW and 43 MW of priority.
In San Juan, PS Tocota III , owned by Genneia SA, is projected to have 60 MW but submitted bids for 1 MW and 20 MW . In the same province, PS Fitovid, owned by Fitovid SRL, is projected to have 1.8 MW and is requesting priority for the entire capacity.
San Luis has three other solar projects. PS Calicanto , with a capacity of 42 MW, requested between 20 MW and 42 MW; PS Kairos I, with a capacity of 15 MW, is requesting between 1 MW and 15 MW; and PS Energías Renovables Los Nogales, with a capacity of 9.5 MW, requires priority for its 9.5 MW.
In the Northeast, two MSU Green Energy projects also appear. PS MSU Las Lomitas III, in Formosa, requested 8 MW, while PS MSU Roque Sáenz Peña IV, in Chaco, requested 15 MW.
The standout case within the solar segment is MSU San Martín + BESS , in Catamarca. It is the only application submitted through MATER 360, meaning it includes associated infrastructure works to expand the system.
The initiative combines a 50 MW solar park with a 50 MW/300 MWh BESS storage system and, according to the information presented, would have an operational-electrical performance equivalent to that of a wind power project.
On the wind side, PE Las Campanas , from Parque de Energía Eólica Las Campanas SA, contemplates 185 MW in Neuquén, although it presented itself in search of priority from 24 MW to 100 MW .
The second project is PE Hucalito I , by Genneia SA, which is projected to have 105.4 MW in La Pampa and has requested between 1 MW and 25 MW . It is also the only one of the 12 participants that is not competing in MATER Pleno.
Participation under Reference A is relevant due to the effective availability of transmission capacity. In MATER Pleno, only 120 MW remain available in the Misiones–Northeast Argentina (NEA)–Litoral corridor , according to Annex III published by CAMMESA.
For Reference Mechanism A, the available capacity is distributed differently depending on the corridor and technology.
- 100 MW in the Comahue corridor
- Only 200 MW in Patagonia - Province of Buenos Aires, provided they correspond to BESS and photovoltaic projects
- 20 MW in Central - Cuyo - Northwest Argentina (NOA) + 50 MW if they are wind power
- 640 MW in the Misiones - NEA - Litoral corridor
This distribution will determine the actual competition between initiatives, since simply comparing the maximum aggregate demand with the total availability is insufficient. And the final definition will depend on the corridor, the interconnection point, and the modality under which each project competes.
The decision will be made on August 21st.
The next milestone will be on Thursday, August 13, 2026 , when CAMMESA will announce which projects will have to go through a tiebreaker due to insufficient transport capacity.
Initiatives that remain in that status must submit the required information by Thursday, August 20. The final dispatch priority will be awarded on Friday, August 21 .
That result will define how much of the maximum 349.3 MW requested actually achieves priority and, within that total, what proportion corresponds to the up to 224.3 MW of solar power that currently concentrates the largest number of proposals.
The round will also allow us to measure the extent to which the Reference A works as a way to enable new generation in areas with transport restrictions , and how much space hybrid solutions such as storage within the MATER are beginning to gain.
