Chinese exports of solar modules to Latin America totaled 2.99 GW in January-February 2026 , which implies a year-on-year variation of -51% compared to the same period in 2025, according to data from InfoLink Consulting.
With this volume, the region represents approximately 8% of global shipments , out of a total of 35.06 GW exported worldwide , a figure that as a whole registers a year-on-year drop of 9% .
Comparison with other regions
Latin America's behavior differs from the rest of the major destinations:

- Europe: 14.16 GW shipped, +8% year-on-year , with nearly 40% of global share .
- Asia-Pacific: 10.47 GW, a reduction compared to 2025 (reference of 14.97 GW the previous year), and a share close to 30% .
- Middle East: 4.74 GW, +90% year-on-year , with around 14% of the total .
- Africa: 2.70 GW, +42% year-on-year , with a share close to 8% .
In this context, Latin America registers the largest contraction in relative terms among all regions.

Distribution within the continent
The main destinations for Chinese modules in America were:
- Brazil: 1.17 GW
- Mexico: 0.38 GW
- United States: 0.31 GW
These three markets account for the majority of shipments within the continent, although the regional total remains below the levels of the previous year.
Participation in the supply chain
In the solar cell segment, global exports reached 18.16 GW in the same period , with a year-on-year growth of 44% .
Of that total, Asia-Pacific accounts for about 90% , while Latin America does not have a significant share in this segment.
Evolution of regional weight
With a share close to 8% of the global total of modules , Latin America is below Europe and Asia-Pacific, and at similar levels to Africa, although with an opposite trend in the year-on-year variation.
The -51% figure positions the region as the one with the largest drop in shipments of Chinese solar modules at the beginning of 2026, in a global context where other regions show stability or growth in imported volumes.
