The bidding process for new electricity transmission works made significant progress, following the economic opening carried out by the National Electric Coordinator, within the framework of the works contemplated in Decrees No. 13/2025 and No. 354/2025.
On this occasion, all 10 groups of projects that received bids were awarded , equivalent to 16 projects from the 2024 Expansion Plan and one project from the 2023 Expansion Plan , representing a reference investment value of USD 475 million . The awarding of all the groups that received bids is a positive sign for the development of the transmission infrastructure required by the national electricity system.
Among the highlights of the process was the participation of new players, such as Cox Chile and Inergy Solutions , contributing to a greater diversity of companies involved in these types of tenders. In particular, Cox Chile won one of the groups of projects offered, strengthening competition in the sector.
Furthermore, a high level of competition was observed in several groups of projects, especially in national projects and some regional initiatives, where the differences between the submitted bids were small. This scenario is consistent with the objective of promoting competitive processes that allow for the development of the required works under efficient conditions for the system.
The companies with the most contracts were Celeo and Engie , with three each. They were followed by Transemel , Alupar, Cox Chile, and Ferrovial , with one contract each.
As a next step, the National Electric Coordinator must submit the award file to the National Energy Commission, which will prepare the corresponding report for the Ministry of Energy. Subsequently, the Ministry will issue the award decree formalizing the results of the bidding process.
