The project, developed by ENERESA —the energy platform of Kattan Group— integrates approximately 15.3 MW of photovoltaic generation and 18 MWh of energy storage using batteries, making it one of the first hybrid solar generation and energy storage projects developed on an industrial scale in Honduras.
In a context marked by high electricity costs and challenges in the quality and reliability of supply, the INHDELVA industrial park is advancing in Honduras with an innovative energy scheme that combines photovoltaic solar generation and battery storage to optimize energy consumption, improve operational resilience and strengthen industrial competitiveness.
The initiative demonstrates the technical and operational feasibility of integrating renewable generation and energy storage within the Honduran electricity market, contributing to the modernization and transformation process of the national energy sector.

Mauricio Kattan, CEO of Kattan Group, explained that the project arose from the need to reduce energy costs, improve the quality of supply and strengthen the competitiveness of the companies located within INHDELVA, one of the main industrial complexes in Honduras.
“We quickly identified that one of the major challenges facing Honduras was the high cost of electricity and the need for more reliable and efficient solutions. From this reality, ENERESA, Responsible Energy, was born as a platform to address these challenges within our industrial ecosystem and, at the same time, contribute to the country's energy development.”
The system incorporates technological solutions from the Huawei FusionSolar portfolio, including photovoltaic inverters, energy storage systems, power converters (PCS), transformers, monitoring platforms, and advanced energy management systems.

The facility was conceived as an integrated energy platform capable of generating renewable energy and, simultaneously, managing energy use more efficiently through storage and intelligent control.
The project integrates photovoltaic generation and energy storage within a model aimed at improving industrial competitiveness, energy resilience and long-term sustainability.
One of the most relevant components of the project is the incorporation of Grid-Forming capabilities, a technology that can contribute to the support of electrical parameters such as voltage and frequency within its operational scope and under the applicable technical and regulatory conditions.
“Energy storage is not just about storing electricity. It’s about managing how and when energy is used to improve efficiency, operational flexibility, and overall system performance.”
Based on operational experience observed to date, the project has significantly reduced dependence on energy acquired from the electrical grid and has contributed to improving the quality, stability and management of energy supply within the industrial park.
In addition to its economic and operational benefits, the initiative contributes to broader goals related to sustainability, energy efficiency and the resilience of the electrical infrastructure.
For the development and implementation of the project, ENERESA worked jointly with Operadores Nacionales (ON), Huawei Digital Power's distributor for Central America and the Caribbean, as well as with ProEnergy and Huawei. Together, the teams contributed their experience and capabilities to make the implementation of this energy solution possible on an industrial scale.
“The availability of local and regional technical support was an important factor in our technology assessment process. Having access to specialized technical resources builds confidence for the long-term operation of an energy infrastructure of this magnitude.”
The project also represents a relevant reference for the evolution of the Honduran electricity market by demonstrating the practical integration of solar generation and energy storage within a large-scale commercial and industrial environment, under the current regulatory and operational conditions.
Kattan Group believes that these types of solutions can be progressively replicated in other industrial parks, commercial complexes, real estate developments and strategic infrastructure facilities in Honduras and Central America, particularly in markets where the cost, quality and reliability of the electricity supply are determining factors for competitiveness.
“This project demonstrates that it is possible to move towards a more efficient, resilient, sustainable and competitive energy system, leveraging technological innovation to generate economic and operational value for companies and for the country.”
