The Wholesale Electricity Market Management Company ( CAMMEA ) received eight renewable energy projects in the current call for bids for the Renewable Energy Term Market (MATER) , corresponding to the fourth quarter of 2025. The initiatives, totaling 737.9 MW of power , are requesting dispatch priority, although the minimum capacity requested by the projects is 551 MW , while the maximum reaches 635 MW. The eight projects are distributed as follows: five solar (544 MW) and three wind (193.9 MW) . The photovoltaic initiatives are located in Buenos Aires, Corrientes, Formosa, Catamarca, and San Juan , and request a combined minimum of 529 MW . Meanwhile, the three wind farms are competing exclusively in the province of Buenos Aires , with requested capacities ranging from 22 to 91 MW , within the Patagonia-Buenos Aires Province corridor. However, the technical scenario is complex: The electricity transmission system imposes serious limitations on this call for bids, as only 50 MW are fully available to inject energy without restrictions , located exclusively in the Misiones NEA Litoral corridor, according to Annex III published by CAMMEA. Therefore, only two projects compete under the MATER Pleno , meaning with effective and immediate dispatch priority:
- PS Aluar Abasto (24 MW) , from the company Aluar , one of the largest aluminum producers in the country
- PS El Sol de VG Güemes (30 MW) , promoted by the firm Ambiente y Energía , which has a projection of 400 MW of solar power between 2026 and 2027
From RenovAr to MATER: How much do renewables cost in Argentina and what can we expect in the future? The remaining requested capacity is subject to the Reference "A" allocation modality, a scheme that implies the possibility of up to 8% curtailment (generation limitation) until the necessary infrastructure works are enabled , distributed as follows.
- Patagonia Buenos Aires : 190 MW available + an additional 200 MW if the projects are solar.
- Cuyo NOA Center : only 32 MW can be awarded, exclusively for wind technology.
- NEA Litoral Missions : up to 475 MW with the possibility of priority without limitations, although only 50 MW of them are considered without restrictions.
Both initiatives belong to the firm
Genneia with a combined capacity of 450 MW, located in the Central Cuyo Northwest Argentine corridor:- PS Sol del Valle (300 MW) : includes the Malvinas 132 kV Shunt compensation , the replacement of the series capacitor at the Recreo substation , and the expansion of the transformation at the La Rioja Sur 132/500 kV substation .
- PS Tocota III (150 MW) : encompasses the adaptation of the Bauchaceta ET , the normalization of the Calingasta Rodeo LAT and the incorporation of a BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) .
