FES Government & Investment debuts today in Santo Domingo with an agenda designed to directly connect governments, CEOs, developers, manufacturers, investors and financial entities from Latin America and the Caribbean.
The meeting will take place on October 7 and 8 at the Hotel El Embajador , within the XI Energy Week, and will mark the debut of a new proposal from Future Energy Summit (FES) together with the Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE).
The first day will begin at 10:00 with registration and high-level networking, while the opening remarks will be given by Joel Santos, Minister of Energy and Mines of the Dominican Republic .
The focus will be on private investment, public policy, storage, financing, flexibility, wind and hybrid projects and the expansion of renewables , with spaces that will seek to cross the needs of governments with the growth strategies of some of the main companies in the sector.

The event will also highlight one of the key differences of the new format: ministers and executives sharing the same discussion spaces about where to invest, what infrastructure the region needs, and what regulatory and financial conditions are needed to accelerate projects .
The first panel, “ C-Level Dialogue: Energy Investment in Central America and the Caribbean in the Face of the New Growth Cycle ,” will bring together Joel Santos; Juan Carlos Pais, CEO of Grupo Pais; and Carlos Birbuet, Director of Natural Gas Origination at AES Dominicana.
Next up will be Karpowership, with a keynote on the role of flexibility in the energy transition, before giving way to “ Energy Investment Outlook ”, a space focused on identifying where the leaders of the region's major energy companies see growth.
Ramon Candia, Senior Advisor to the Board of Greenwood Energy, and Alejandro Ivanissevich, CEO of 360Energy , will participate.
Storage will be one of the central blocks of the first day.
The panel “ Large-scale BESS: Perspectives on manufacturing, regulation, technological integration and project bankability in Latin America ” will bring together Humberto García Handal, CEO of Kiin Energy; Tamara Berríos, Director of New Energies Latam at BYD; Héctor Núñez, North Latam Director of Sungrow; and Wilfredo Rodríguez, CEO of G&A Ingeniería.
The debate will focus not only on the technological evolution of batteries, but also on the conditions necessary for projects to be financed, integrated into the grid, and to find sustainable business models in the various Latin American markets.
The agenda will continue in the afternoon with a high-level public sector roundtable dedicated to investment and public policy to ensure energy security, clean and competitive energy.
Hugo Briones, Undersecretary of Energy of Chile, and Eduardo Oviedo, Minister of Energy of Honduras , will participate, moderated by Andrés Rebolledo, Executive Secretary of OLACDE.
The financing will also have a specific block, with representatives from Makbi, TCI Global and Marsh Risk Consulting , while Nordex and Goldwind will lead a discussion dedicated to wind and hybrid projects in Latin America.
Another highlight will be the discussion on the prospects for renewable energy from the ministries of Central America and the Caribbean, with authorities from Cuba, El Salvador and Guatemala .
The first day will also include a South American perspective with representatives from Brazil and Paraguay, including Camila Silva Leão D'Araújo Olsen, from the Ministry of Mines and Energy of Brazil; Gustavo Naciff de Andrade, from the Energy Research Company; and Mauricio Bejarano, Vice Minister of Mines and Energy of Paraguay .
Solar + storage and business strategy will mark the second day
On October 8, FES Government & Investment will kick off with the Energy Week Ministerial Plenary and continue with new sessions focused on renewable generation, storage, and corporate strategy.
One of the main debates will be “ Solar + Storage: the formula to scale renewables and high-impact projects in Latin America ”, with representatives from CATL, ISA, Elecnor and Ventus, moderated by Ana Lía Rojas, director of ACERA.
Later, a high-level panel will take place on the vision of the energy transition of large Latin American business groups with a 2030 horizon, with Mónica Lupiáñez, from InterEnergy Group; Jarrizon Quevedo, from Karpowership; and Alfonso Rodríguez, CEO of Soventix Caribbean , moderated by Álvaro Villasante, from Grupo Energía Bogotá.
The second day will also include a closed roundtable between ministers, regulators and CEOs to discuss a regional roadmap towards 2030, in addition to the Business Council and an exclusive dinner with ministers.
FES Government & Investment is thus joining the 11th Energy Week for the first time with a format aimed at reducing the distance between public decision, private capital and project execution .
The debut begins today in Santo Domingo with that premise: to bring together at the same table those who define the rules, those who finance the infrastructure, and those who will have to turn the investment opportunities of Latin America and the Caribbean into new energy projects.
