Nextpower will accelerate inverter manufacturing in the United States and expects more than 10 GW of capacity to be operational within the next twelve months, following the completion of the acquisition of Apex Power and key assets of Zigor's power conversion business.
The deal incorporates central inverters for solar projects and large-scale storage systems, an established supply chain, and engineering teams in the United States and Spain. The first products will begin to be delivered in early 2027.
The new inverters are UL 1741 SB certified for the US market and IEC certified for Europe and other international markets. The portfolio includes central solutions and modular configurations up to 5.2 MVA .
Nextpower seeks to respond to the growing demand for locally manufactured equipment, with greater traceability, cybersecurity and maintainability throughout the life of the plants.

The company also anticipates that the United States could impose new restrictions on foreign investors. Given this scenario, the industrial expansion aims to reduce regulatory and supply risks for asset owners, developers, and EPC contractors.
“We launched a power electronics business to meet customer needs, including improved operational performance, stronger domestic manufacturing, enhanced cybersecurity, and the backing of an investment-grade U.S. company,” explained Daniel Shugar, CEO and founder of Nextpower.
The executive noted that the new division is integrated with the rest of the company's technology platform, which already includes solar trackers, electrical infrastructure, software, services, and storage.
The acquisition adds proprietary inverter technology and a specialized energy conversion team with a presence on both sides of the Atlantic. Nextpower did not disclose the financial terms of the transaction.
One of the platform's distinguishing features will be its modular architecture. Unlike equipment that requires specialized tools or factory repairs, the inverters were designed to allow for the replacement of power modules directly in the field.
This configuration aims to reduce downtime and give owners greater control over maintenance tasks. Components can be replaced using standard tools and procedures, without completely removing the equipment from the plant.
“The platform was designed based on the needs of owners and EPC companies, with a modular architecture that simplifies maintenance, reduces downtime, and ensures long-term performance,” said Jacob Marshall, vice president and general manager of Power Conversion at Nextpower.
Investor communication will be conducted exclusively via a wired fiber optic network within the site. The company presents this architecture as a response to the increasing cybersecurity demands applied to US energy infrastructure.
The production expansion will be deployed across multiple locations in the United States. Nextpower did not specify the plants involved or the distribution of the planned 10 GW, but anticipated that capacity will begin to ramp up with the first deliveries in 2027.
From solar trackers to a comprehensive platform for power plants
The move into energy conversion is part of a broader transformation. Nextpower aims to move beyond simply supplying trackers and become involved in more critical components of solar and energy storage plants.
The company recently announced the launch of Nextpower Energy Storage following the completion of its acquisition of Prevalon. The combination of batteries and inverters will allow it to offer coordinated solutions for BESS projects and hybrid solar plants.
Inverters play a central role in both segments: they convert the direct current produced by the photovoltaic modules or stored in the batteries into alternating current compatible with the grid.
Having its own technology will allow Nextpower to coordinate the operation of the conversion, storage, eBOS, solar tracking, software and plant control systems.
“Solar, storage, eBOS, energy conversion, software, and services are rapidly taking shape. The work ahead is not just about adding more MW, but about building better power plants,” Shugar said.
The strategy also aims to capture a larger share of the value of each project. Instead of supplying an isolated component, Nextpower intends to offer an integrated platform and reduce the number of interfaces between manufacturers.
The expansion comes after the company posted record quarterly revenue of USD 935 million and an order backlog exceeding USD 5.5 billion .
The storage backlog already exceeds USD 300 million and is in addition to commitments associated with trackers, electrical infrastructure and services.
With the acquisition of Apex Power and Zigor's assets, Nextpower adds a new product family at a time when investors are gaining strategic relevance in the United States.
Growing solar demand, the deployment of BESS, and concerns about supply chain security are driving domestic manufacturing of electrical equipment.
The next challenge will be to scale up production to over 10 GW, meet the delivery schedule, and demonstrate that integrating inverters, batteries, and trackers can improve the operational performance of utility-scale plants.
