PCR and ArcelorMittal Acindar inaugurated the expansion works of the Ezeiza Transformer Station, which meant the energization of the new Shunt capacitors installed that will allow increasing the transmission and distribution capacity of energy at 500 kV of the entire Comahue-Buenos Aires trunk corridor, which is part of the Argentine Interconnection System (SADI), in an equivalent to the supply of 600,000 homes and which presented capacity restrictions under conditions of maximum demand.
With an investment of $40 million, this is the first strategic stage of the comprehensive project by PCR and ArcelorMittal Acindar, which also includes, in its phase of expanding the electrical transmission system, the expansion of the capacity of the Olavarría Transformer Station. The project is completed with the construction of the Olavarría Wind Farm, with a capacity of 185.6 MW and 29 wind turbines, and the installation of a 25 km power line to connect it to the Argentine Interconnected System (SADI), bringing the total investment to $275 million. A total of 350 people will be employed during the construction of the entire project, which is scheduled to be fully operational by January 2027.

This investment is a private contribution to the improvement and expansion of the country's transmission system, which will be delivered to the SADI and is a central part of the first wind power generation project approved under the Large Investments Incentive Regime (RIGI) scheme.

“We are very proud that our project is making a reality of expanding transmission capacity, which will allow for the integration of more renewable energy generation into the SADI (Argentine Interconnected System). This project will improve the situation at one of the main bottlenecks that can restrict the country's growth. Through these types of actions, we continue to reaffirm PCR's commitment to the general well-being of the population, as well as boosting Argentina's energy and productive development,” stated Martín Brandi , CEO of PCR.
“With this new phase, at ArcelorMittal Acindar, we are consolidating a long-term vision aligned with our decarbonization strategy, leading the energy transition in the national industry and in our country. This expansion not only represents a decisive step towards a cleaner and more diversified energy mix, but also reinforces our strong investment in the country and a collective vision of sustainability, while developing a more competitive and sustainable industry,” said Federico Amos , CEO of ArcelorMittal Acindar.
