Pramac has developed and implemented an advanced energy storage system in combination with the existing photovoltaic generation at the logistics facilities of Fran y Chemi SL, one of the largest fruit and vegetable distribution companies in the Canary Islands, located in Fuerteventura.
The project integrates an existing 221 kWp photovoltaic plant with a battery energy storage system (BESS) of 564 kWh total capacity and 270 kW discharge power, specifically designed to adapt to the client's continuous and demanding consumption profile.
An energy challenge with a direct impact on costs and operations
The client had high energy consumption with constant demand, resulting in high electricity costs and a strong dependence on the grid. The main objectives of the project included:

- Reduction of energy costs through self-consumption and demand management
- Improving security of supply in critical processes
- Progress in sustainability and reduction of the carbon footprint
- Adaptation to potential regulatory requirements and access to incentives
The solution therefore had to combine technical performance , economic viability and future scalability , three key pillars for the modern fruit and vegetable industry.
Next-generation BESS technology for C&I applications
The installed solution is based on three Pramac BSO MAX 90/188 kWh systems, "all-in-one" equipment designed for commercial and industrial (C&I) applications that integrate storage, power electronics and energy management into a single compact system.
Among its technical features, the following stand out:
- Total installed capacity: 564 kWh
- Nominal power per unit: 90 kVA three-phase
- Battery technology: High thermal stability prismatic Li-Ion LFP
- Service life: up to 7,300 cycles at 95% depth of discharge
- Integrated EMS system: real-time optimization of energy flow
- Advanced communications: Ethernet, Modbus TCP/IP and REST API
- Cybersecurity: 2FA authentication and European servers
- Industrial protection: IP54 and operation between -20 ºC and +50 ºC
In addition, the system incorporates advanced safety measures such as continuous cell monitoring, thermal sensors, fire suppression systems and a design prepared for demanding industrial conditions.
Energy optimization and new management models
The integration of the photovoltaic system with BESS allows the client to maximize self-consumption and reduce grid injection, shift energy demand and optimize tariff costs, stabilize the load curve, and increase energy independence. Ultimately, it prepares them for future scenarios, such as capacity expansions, process electrification, or the integration of new energy assets.
This system is designed as a scalable infrastructure, ready to respond to business growth or new energy needs.
Energy control with the Pramac EMS
The installation is managed by Pramac's Energy Management System (EMS), an advanced platform that combines intelligent cloud connectivity and digital twin technology to monitor and optimize system performance in real time. Thanks to its rapid setup and intuitive interface, the EMS simplifies the operation and monitoring of the energy storage system, providing a detailed view of energy flows, asset status, and key performance indicators. The solution is supported by a server infrastructure located in Germany and features in-house development and technical support, ensuring high standards of security, reliability, and expert assistance throughout the project lifecycle.
