The map of Spanish renewable energy generation shows Iberdrola and Endesa clearly ahead of the rest of the market . Between them, they account for around 34.1 GW , more than half of the capacity held by the top ten companies in the ranking.
Behind them, the competition becomes tighter. Acciona Energía, Naturgy, Ignis, and EDP operate in a range between 4.3 and 5.7 GW, while Repsol consolidates its climb, and Bruc, Plenitude, and ENGIE complete the Top 10.
The list considers the renewable energy capacity operating or managed in Spain according to the latest data available for each company. Because companies use different closing dates and reporting criteria, the figures allow for an assessment of their position, although they do not constitute a uniform accounting snapshot.

1. Iberdrola: 23000 MW
Iberdrola leads the ranking with approximately 23 GW of renewables in Spain as of May 2026 , more than double that of its immediate competitor.
Its portfolio combines wind, hydroelectric, and solar power generation with storage. The company also strengthened its investment capacity through its alliance with Norges Bank, which includes €1.2 billion to develop 1.2 GW , distributed between 80% photovoltaic and 20% wind power.
2. Endesa: 11100 MW
Endesa holds the second position with approximately 11.1 GW of renewables by the end of 2025 , distributed between hydroelectric, wind and solar.
In addition to its own capacity, the company also benefits from the strength of its distribution network. It has over 30 GW of connected third-party renewable generation , including self-consumption installations and independent power producers.
3. Acciona Energía: 5718 MW
Acciona Energía completes the podium with 5,718 MW installed in Spain as of December 2024. Its mix includes wind, hydroelectric, solar and biomass.
The company added 2 GW of new global capacity during 2024 and furthered its asset rotation strategy through transactions such as the sale of 175 MW to Elawan and 626 MW to Endesa. In parallel, it began exploring long-duration storage using iron-air batteries.
4. Naturgy: 5300 MW
Naturgy has around 5.3 GW of renewable energy in Spain , with a presence in hydroelectric, wind and photovoltaic generation.
After increasing its renewable energy production by 11% during 2024 , the group set a goal of exceeding 9.5 GW of global green capacity by 2027. Its growth will depend on both new capacity and the evolution of a technologically diversified portfolio.
5. Ignis Energía: 4500 MW
Ignis ranks fifth with 4.5 GW under management , primarily solar. The available figure, corresponding to June 2022, confirms its standing among the largest independent managers in the Spanish market, although it should be interpreted with caution due to its age compared to the rest of the ranking.

Their strategy relies heavily on power purchase agreements. Among their latest moves is a PPA to supply an 82 MW data center campus in Fuenlabrada .
6. EDP: up to 4350 MW
EDP will reach up to 4.35 GW of renewable capacity in Spain between 2025 and 2026 , with hydroelectric, wind and solar assets.
The company seeks to secure long-term revenue for its new developments. One example is the 15-year PPA associated with a 250 MW hybrid portfolio , comprised of wind and solar photovoltaic projects.
7. Repsol: more than 3200 MW
Repsol exceeds 3.2 GW of operational renewables in Spain by March 2026 , supported by hydroelectric, wind and solar assets.
External capital investment is one of the main drivers of its expansion. The energy company brought on Schroders Greencoat as a partner with a 49% stake in a 400 MW portfolio and linked another 230 MW to a VPPA with Microsoft .
8. Bruc: 1963 MW
Bruc is approaching the 2 GW operational mark, with 1,963 MW between 2025 and 2026. Its portfolio is mainly concentrated in photovoltaics, although it also has a presence in wind power.
The addition of a 790 MW block allowed it to significantly expand its scale and establish itself among the largest independent producers in the Spanish market.
9. Plenitude: 1800 MW
Plenitude will reach approximately 1.8 GW of renewable energy capacity in Spain by June 2026. The Eni subsidiary combines solar and wind assets, although photovoltaics accounted for its latest capacity increase.
The progress was driven by the entry into production of the entire Renopool , a 330 MW solar plant located in Extremadura .
10. ENGIE: 1700 MW
ENGIE closes the Top 10 with around 1.7 GW of solar and wind power managed in Spain .
The company expects to more than double that figure over the next few years. Its goal is to reach 3.6 GW under management by 2030 , a target that could improve its position in future editions of the ranking.
Nearly 62 GW concentrated in ten companies
Collectively, the ten companies account for approximately 61.6 GW of renewable energy . However, leadership remains highly concentrated: Iberdrola represents about 37% of the total ranking and, together with Endesa, accounts for around 55%.
Outside the Top 10 are Verbund, Sonnedix, Matrix Renewables, and Statkraft, all with over 650 MW. Capital Energy appears further behind in operational capacity, with 92 MW at the end of 2024, although it has a development and asset rotation portfolio that expands its effective weight in the sector.
