The National Council of Professionals in Photovoltaic Energy (CPEF) published the results of its national survey* on the photovoltaic industry in the distributed generation segment.
The so-called "CPEF Solar Monitor 2022" measured the Top of Mind positioning and Share of Mind of brands in three divisions.
In the first measurement, the respondents mentioned: 19 panel brands, 14 inverter brands, and 28 distributors active in the Mexican market.
In the case of the second, there were: 53 solar panels, 37 inverters and 42 distributors.

Among the main findings of the Top of Mind survey , it is highlighted that 6 panel manufacturers hold 90% of the brand positioning in the distributed generation industry in Mexico; 58% of the industry prefers to work with a central inverter rather than microinverters; and there are 3 distributors that have a strengthened brand positioning above the sum of other distributors named.
Before sharing the details, as a preliminary clarification, the CPEF explains that the ranking demonstrates the brands that are "top of mind for the public," reflecting their everyday presence in the market, and that this does not necessarily imply being an industry leader. Which do you consider to be the best solar panel brand in Mexico? 36% of respondents identified Canadian Solar as the best solar panel brand in Mexico, giving it a significant lead over Jinko Solar (15.1%) and Longi Solar (14.7%), which held second and third place, respectively.
Next in line for the industry were panel brands: JA Solar (14%), Trina Solar (6.2%), and SunPower (4.3%), while other companies accounted for the smallest percentage at 9.7%. Which do you consider the best inverter brand in Mexico? Fronius received 24% of the responses, closely competing with SMA (15.8%), Enphase (11.8%), and Growatt (11.8%) in the distributed generation category.
However, other leading brands in different market segments were also present: Others (10.5%), HoyMiles (10.1%), Huawei (7.5%), AP System (4.8%), and Goodwe (3.9%). "Which do you consider to be the best wholesaler/distributor of products for the solar energy industry in distributed generation in Mexico?" A total of 28 distributors were identified as the best in Mexico, which, according to the CPEF, demonstrates "a highly fragmented distribution market, little perceived added value, and limited customer loyalty."
However, Exel Solar (25.2%), Grupo Soles (19.7%) and Bayware (18.9%) would be the 3 distributors in Mexico with a strengthened brand positioning above the sum of other distributors.
During the S Monitor Solar CPEF 2022 for the Mexican market, the Share of Mind positioning indicated that among the top 15 solar panel brands are: Canadian Solar, Jinko Solar, Trina Solar, Longi Solar, Ja Solar, Risen, Seraphim, First Solar, Suntech, Solarever, ET Solar, Sharp, Qcell, ZnShine and Sunpower .
The remaining shares are held by Renesola, AstroEnergy2, LG, Talesun, Kyocera, Phono Solar, Solar, Recom, Rec Group, HT-SAAE, Jolywood, Connera, Jinergy, Axitec, Iusasol , among others.
The top 10 inverters would be Fronius, Growatt, Enphase, Huawei, SMA, HoyMiles, Solis, ApSystems, Goodwe, Solarever and SunGrow .
Followed by CPS, Solar Edge, OutBack, Kaco, Fimer, Canadian Solar, KStar, Power Electronic, SAJ, Kostal, Solax Power , among others.
The wholesalers/distributors that would enter the TOP10 of their division would be: Exel Solar, Bayware, Solar Power Group, Corporativo Soles, Mayorista Solar, Nos Mueve el Sol, Solarama, Corey Solar, Refacsol and Bodega Solar.
Followed by Sices, Amara, WTS, Solar Center, Tresel, Technosun, Enerpoint, Dimasol, and others. *The sample corresponds to the statistical analysis with a 95% confidence level and a 5% margin of error obtained from 276 people in the photovoltaic industry in Mexico in distributed generation surveyed from September 1 to November 30, 2022.
