The prices of the more than 230 projects competing in the tender for 700 MW "AlmaSADI" storage systems in Argentina have been revealed, with several surprises within the sector.
Why? The weighted price of the tender remained at USD 10568 MWmes, with minimum values that approached USD 7397 MWmes and maximum values of USD 12500 MWmes, meaning that there was a difference of more than USD 5000 MWmes in the price between both extremes.
Energía Estratégica , an international news outlet specializing in the renewable energy sector, was present at the opening of economic envelopes (envelopes B) carried out by the Compañía Administradora del Mercado Mayorista Eléctrico SA (CAMMESA) and brings a review of the 232 offers.
While the average price was as expected by renewable industry leaders who shared their perspectives with this news portal, the main surprise came when the prices of various BESS plants fell below the USD 8000 MWmes threshold.

According to what Energía Estratégica was able to confirm after all the figures were revealed in detail, several companies are better positioned for the final award.
Genneia, the firm with the most installed renewable capacity in the country, was the company with the lowest prices presented, so it was the only one that showed prices for less than USD 7800 MWmes in a third of its projects (5 out of 15).
360Energy was one of the few companies that invested in projects below USD 9,000 MW/month. It's worth noting that the firm, which has Stellantis as an investor, already has experience in winning BESS system contracts in public tenders, having won medium-scale hybrid projects in 2023 during the RenMDI process.
What happened to the company that offered the most power? Central Puerto, which had 1220 MW in the competition, submitted an average price of USD 10740 MWmes and could also win a portion of the tender, given the variety of locations in which it participated.
However, it should be clarified that the official award will be announced on July 8th through the CAMMESA website. The winning BESS systems would then become operational starting in May of next year (those that do so will receive better financial incentives), under a 15-year contract beginning on the date of delivery (COD).
