As energy storage systems become a critical component of modern electricity infrastructure, investment in the sector continues to accelerate globally. Playing an increasingly important role in creating safer, more flexible, and more resilient electricity systems, annual battery energy storage installations surpassed 100 GW for the first time in 2025, marking a significant milestone for the global industry.
"The recognition from Wood Mackenzie underlines Sungrow's strong position in a rapidly growing global energy market," said Moritz Rolf , Vice President of Sungrow Europe, responsible for the DACH, Benelux, Nordic and Turkey regions.
"As energy projects become larger and more complex, customers are increasingly relying on partners that combine advanced technology, proven execution capabilities, and long-term local support," he added.
ESS Ranking: Supplier's ability to offer solutions throughout the entire project lifecycle

Published for the first time by the international research and consulting firm Wood Mackenzie, the ranking assesses industry development and the performance of companies operating in the sector. According to the results, Sungrow, a leading global provider of clean energy solutions, ranked first among global integrators of battery energy storage systems (BESS). The assessment focuses on factory-assembled, AC-integrated BESS solutions that combine batteries, power conversion systems (PCS), battery management systems (BMS), thermal management, and control systems into a single AC-connected product.
Inverter ranking: the leading inverter manufacturers combine balance, technology and resilience
Wood Mackenzie, which publishes its reports every six months, has developed its inverter manufacturer ranking system through a thorough analysis of the solar inverter manufacturing sector. This analysis includes, among other aspects, production capacity, technology, supply volumes, and financial parameters. The ranking focuses on manufacturing experience, utilization capacity, financial standing, ESG performance, after-sales service, R&D, and third-party certifications.
Both rankings focus on ESG criteria, R&D, and financial stability
The rankings are based on extensive data collection, including supplier surveys, publicly available documents, proprietary databases, and in-depth discussions with manufacturers. Suppliers in both rankings were assessed against 10 key criteria, including technological maturity, R&D investment, safety, vertical integration, supply chain resilience, ESG performance, and financial strength. The rankings serve as an important benchmark for utility companies, independent power producers, and project developers when evaluating battery energy storage system (BESS) integrators and photovoltaic (PV) manufacturers during the selection process.
The results also indicate that buyers increasingly value suppliers' ability to deliver solutions and services throughout the entire project lifecycle. Experience and execution capabilities have emerged as key differentiators, reflecting the growing importance of system design, commissioning expertise, and long-term operational performance as energy storage projects become larger and more complex.
Sungrow has also received an A rating from Wood Mackenzie, based on criteria such as technological maturity, R&D investment, safety, vertical integration, supply chain resilience, ESG performance, and financial strength. This rating highlights the company's ability to meet demanding performance expectations thanks to its strong R&D capabilities, advanced technologies, extensive industry experience, proven project execution skills, and financial resilience.
Sungrow: Large-scale, comprehensive energy solutions
Sungrow offers comprehensive, safe, and durable solutions designed for increasingly broad and complex large-scale energy storage applications. Ranked by BloombergNEF as the world's most bankable brand for photovoltaic inverters, energy storage systems, and PCS, the company continues to develop solutions focused on improving system efficiency, safety, and long-term operational performance.
One example: developed for Utility-scale projects, PowerTitan 3.0 technology addresses the needs of large-scale energy storage through flexible configurations and multiple grid formation options, such as black start, inertia support, or millisecond-level voltage regulation.
It comes pre-installed and pre-configured, enabling ultra-fast commissioning. Thanks to PowerTitan 3.0, Sungrow has been awarded the first 24/7 gigascale solar storage project in Abu Dhabi: a 7.5 GWh project with Masdar. Sungrow estimates that by 2026 it will be supplying 10 GWh of PowerTitan 3.0 across Europe.
Sungrow's entire range of energy storage products features advanced safety functions, optimized commissioning, and operation and maintenance services provided throughout the entire system lifecycle.
With a strong local presence across Europe, Sungrow combines its regional sales, service, and technical support capabilities with its global expertise in innovation and manufacturing. Throughout Europe, Sungrow is actively involved in major energy projects, particularly in the UK , Belgium , and Spain .
The company is also expanding its global portfolio through large-scale deployments in the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East, and Latin America. These projects demonstrate Sungrow's ability to deliver reliable, scalable, and long-term energy solutions in diverse international markets.
