Sungrow, a global leader in inverter technology and energy storage systems, participated once again as a technology sponsor at the 13th Solar Forum, held on October 27 and 28 at the Gran Teatro Príncipe Pío in Madrid. Organized by the Spanish Photovoltaic Union (UNEF), the event brought together representatives from the photovoltaic and energy industries, leading companies, institutions, and regulators to analyze the main challenges and opportunities of the energy transition in Spain.
Within the framework of the event, Íñigo Cayetano, Senior ESS Product Manager & Team Lead Spain of Sungrow Ibérica, participated in the round table "Storage: the fundamental piece in short-term development", dedicated to analyzing the role of battery energy storage systems (BESS) in the evolution of the sector.
During the debate, Cayetano focused on the need to address innovation in storage from a comprehensive perspective, in which the increase in energy density must be accompanied by improvements in efficiency, cost optimization and safety.
"The evolution of BESS isn't simply about cramming more MWh into a container. Higher energy density only generates value if it's accompanied by greater efficiency, lower auxiliary consumption, and an integrated solution that reduces both CAPEX and operating costs. And as that density increases, safety becomes even more important: it's no longer about containing an incident, but about anticipating it and acting as quickly as possible," the Sungrow representative pointed out.

Energy storage, key to advancing the energy transition
The intervention was framed within a debate on some of the issues that are defining the development of energy storage: the viability of long-duration BESS systems, the evolution of the initial investment needed to deploy these solutions, and the opportunities offered by direct current hybridization.

In this context, Sungrow emphasized the importance of developing solutions that combine performance, safety, and economic competitiveness to meet the needs of a transforming energy market. Integrating these factors is crucial to maximizing the value of storage systems and facilitating their large-scale deployment.
Participation in the XIII Solar Forum reinforces Sungrow's commitment to the development of the photovoltaic and energy storage sector in Spain, as well as to collaboration between the various industry stakeholders to promote technological solutions that contribute to a more efficient and secure energy transition.
The company thanks UNEF for organizing this meeting, which has once again established itself as one of the main spaces for dialogue and analysis for the Spanish photovoltaic industry.
