Verano Energy, an independent power producer (IPP) with a growing portfolio of renewable assets in operation, construction, and development in Latin America, has awarded Sungrow the contract to supply the energy storage system (ESS) for its Observatorio project, located in the municipality of Marchigüe, O'Higgins Region. The agreement includes the implementation of a 152 MW / 606 MWh battery storage system with a four-hour operating life , based on Sungrow's PowerTitan 2 solution, as well as a 25-year long-term service agreement (LTSA).
The Observatorio project will combine a 135 MW photovoltaic solar plant, equipped with Sungrow SG350HX-20 inverters, with a large-scale storage system that will allow renewable energy to be stored and supplied during peak demand. This configuration will contribute to strengthening the stability of the Chilean electrical system and facilitate greater integration of renewable energy into the country's energy mix.
For Verano Energy, Observatorio represents a strategic project within its portfolio in Chile, incorporating energy storage as a key element to maximize the value of renewable generation, respond to the challenges of flexibility of the electrical system and continue to promote an infrastructure prepared for the country's energy transition.
"Observatorio represents a new step in consolidating Verano Energy as a key player in renewable energy generation in the region. The addition of storage allows us to capture the full potential of our solar resource, provide greater flexibility to the electrical system, and offer solutions that meet the needs of a market increasingly focused on integrating renewable energy. Furthermore, having a technology partner like Sungrow gives us the confidence to develop a project with the highest standards of performance and reliability," said Tomás Anuch, Chief Operating Officer of Verano Energy .

The award represents a new milestone for both companies and reflects the growing importance of energy storage in Chile, one of Latin America's most dynamic markets for BESS project development . The incorporation of large-capacity storage solutions optimizes the use of solar generation, reduces curtailment, and provides greater flexibility to the operation of the electrical system.
For his part, Gonzalo Feito, Regional Director of Sungrow Latam, commented that “we are proud that Verano Energy has entrusted Sungrow to supply the storage solution for the Observatorio project. This agreement reaffirms our commitment to the development of high-performance energy infrastructure and to accelerating the energy transition in Chile.”
In addition to supplying the BESS system, Sungrow will provide a 25-year Long-Term Service Agreement (LTSA), with the aim of ensuring the operational availability, performance, and reliability of the system throughout its entire lifespan.
With this agreement, Verano Energy and Sungrow consolidate an alliance focused on the development of state-of-the-art energy infrastructure, contributing to the strengthening of the Chilean electricity system and the advancement of the transition towards a more sustainable energy matrix.
