A call for proposals from Uruguay's Energy Sector Fund will remain open until September 3. This fund aims to finance research, knowledge, and innovation applied to the market in various areas, including renewable energy, batteries, mobility, and climate change mitigation, among others.
The head of the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining (MIEM) , Fernanda Cardona, said that the energy sector is an example of the achievements of collaborative work between academia and the private sector. She also advocated for the promotion of these types of initiatives that add value to innovation and research.
For his part, the president of ANII , Álvaro Brunini, explained that the initiative finances research projects up to 100%, with a maximum of 3,000,000 pesos, and innovation projects up to 80%, with a maximum of 4 million pesos.
He added that large companies, startups, and public or private tertiary- level research centers working on these topics will be able to apply.

The head of Ancap , Cecilia San Román, stated that the fund represents the meeting between public companies, the ANII and the MIEM, which translates into mutual enrichment because it implies a shared vision of the future.
Finally, UTE President Andrea Cabrera stated that the initiative is advantageous because it is a way to join forces to create knowledge for society. She said it is an excellent opportunity to forge a new path toward decarbonization by supporting projects presented by young people in this field.
Furthermore, she emphasized that the new line of work on gender, society and energy will require a cross-cutting analysis on issues of equity and inclusion.
