The technology group Wärtsilä signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Green Capital to collaborate strategically on the development of the energy infrastructure of the Atlas GigaHub project, a digital campus for artificial intelligence applications that will be developed in the province of Chubut, Argentina.
This initiative reflects a trend transforming digital infrastructure development: rapid access to reliable energy has become a decisive factor for the deployment of new data centers. In this context, energy schemes that combine flexible generation, storage, and a growing share of renewable sources allow for immediate capacity needs to be met, while also playing an increasingly important role in ensuring a secure supply and supporting growing demand.
The growing energy demand associated with the development of data centers is increasing the pressure on electrical infrastructure in various markets, making energy availability a strategic factor for attracting new investments.
“At Wärtsilä, we are excited to collaborate with Green Capital on this strategic initiative. Projects like Atlas GigaHub demonstrate Argentina’s potential to become a leading destination for digital infrastructure development, particularly in regions like Chubut, where energy resources and favorable conditions can support large-scale investments and developments. As the demand for artificial intelligence and data center capacity continues to grow, access to reliable, flexible, and scalable energy will be critical to enabling that growth. We look forward to supporting Green Capital with the technologies and expertise needed to develop energy solutions designed to deliver immediate reliability and long-term value,” said Gastón Giani, Director of Energy Business at Wärtsilä Energy.

Through this Memorandum of Understanding, Wärtsilä and Green Capital reaffirm their commitment to collaborate in the development of solutions that contribute to the growth of digital infrastructure in Argentina.
