Energy storage has gained increasing relevance across the industry and has emerged as a priority for the sector.
Within this context, during an exclusive event held at the Ritz-Carlton Rooftop, JA Solar officially introduced JA Energy Storage, alongside the company"s latest portfolio innovations.
The firm unveiled its integrated solution that combines photovoltaic technologies with battery energy-storage systems (BESS), marking a strategic milestone for its global development.
The gathering, organised under the concept "Beyond the Sunset: extending the power of the sun, brought together representatives from the energy sector, industry associations, opinion leaders and company clients.
The occasion reinforced Chile"s role as a launchpad for advanced technologies that drive the energy transition in Latin America.
Throughout the event, JA Solar showcased its new developments that integrate high-performance solar panels with BESS solutions under the specialised brand JA Energy Storage.
This offering will enable project-level portfolio integration in the country, providing the system with greater flexibility, easing congestion, optimising generation dispatch and strengthening the reliability of the electricity grid.
"Storage systems allow us to capture the energy that is currently lost due to grid constraints or oversupply.
They turn operational challenges into economic opportunities, highlighted Erick Melo, Technical Manager South LATAM at JA Solar, during the technical session.
Likewise, Víctor Soares, Head of LATAM Technical Team at JA Solar, added: "Lithium-iron-phosphate technology has consolidated its place as the global standard in storage due to its balance of safety, lifespan and cost, making it the most reliable option today for solar and battery projects and that is the direction we are pursuing as a company.
Energy storage has rapidly become one of the principal global trends amid the need for more flexible, resilient systems capable of responding to the growing penetration of renewable energy.
Chile, thanks to its regional leadership in solar adoption and its evolving regulatory framework, has positioned itself as a key market for these technologies.
This was emphasised by Marcos Donzino, Head of Sales South LATAM at JA Solar, who opened the event by stating: "The interest we witnessed here confirms that storage will continue to expand in Chile and the region, and that it is now a critical enabler for new solar projects.
We want the market to see JA Solar not only as a solar-panel manufacturer but as a solutions integrator that combines solar and storage.
Chile is a strategic market for JA Solar given its leadership in solar energy and because it is now entering a new phase with the development of storage.
For his part, Gabriel Magdalon, Vice President LATAM at JA Solar, added: "Beyond being leaders in photovoltaic modules, we want to establish ourselves as a key player in energy-storage solutions in Latin America, and we aimed to showcase that through the presentation of our new BESS solutions.
A SPACE FOR DIALOGUE AND INNOVATIONThe programme included a discussion space featuring reflections from industry associations and an analysis of current trends in the solar and energy-storage sectors.
The dialogue led by Bárbara Barbieri, President of ACESOL (the Chilean Solar Energy Association), and Ana Lía Rojas, Executive Director of ACERA (the Chilean Renewable Energy and Storage Association) was moderated by José Tomás Ewing, Sales Manager Chile at JA Solar.
The conversation explored regulatory challenges, the rise of hybrid solutions and the need to strengthen energy resilience across the region.
"Storage is essential to bridging the gap between where energy is generated and where it is consumed.
Chile produces large amounts of solar energy in the north, while most demand is concentrated in the central zone.
In that context, this technology becomes strategic for the electricity system," explained Bárbara Barbieri, President of ACESOL.
Meanwhile, Ana Lía Rojas, Executive Director of ACERA the association that represents the renewable-energy and storage ecosystem stressed: "The challenge is no longer simply integrating more renewable projects; it is ensuring sufficient demand to absorb them.
The substitution effect from coal retirement will eventually end, and what will define the sector"s future is our capacity to electrify the country.
Without deep electrification, especially in the mining industry, the energy transition will remain incomplete.
The event concluded with closing remarks by Paco Tang, Senior Business Development Manager, who reinforced the company"s vision for the future of Solar and Storage and its commitment to providing integrated solutions that accompany the energy transition in Latin America.
