Energy storage will be one of the core pillars of the summit, with participation from Huawei Digital Power, Zelestra, Jinko ESS and Tera Batteries, alongside sector associations including ASEALEN (Spain"s energy storage association) and UNEF (the Spanish solar PV association).
The technical programme will also address:
-
Distributed generation and self-consumption (autoconsumo)
-
Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), long-term electricity supply contracts
-
Digitalisation and smart energy management
-
Flexibility markets and grid services

The prominence of storage at FES Iberia reflects a rapidly evolving national landscape.
In just three weeks, Spain processed more than 570 MW of BESS capacity for hybridisation with renewable projects, alongside more than 1.6 GW of new renewable capacity, with companies such as Iberdrola, Galp and Forestalia leading developments.
This trend highlights the urgent need for flexible solutions capable of supporting large-scale integration of solar PV and wind power.

The reform is expected to accelerate more than 800 MW currently under development, supported by significant EU FEDER funds for over 30 projects.
Nationally, Spain is also awaiting final approval from the European Commission to launch its first capacity market mechanism, a key instrument to ensure system firmness and long-term adequacy as renewable penetration increases.
Meanwhile, Spain"s transmission system operator, Red Eléctrica de España, has received more than 37 GW in new storage connection requests and recently published available grid nodes for demand access tenders, opening concrete opportunities for new investment.
