At FES Iberia 2025, before an audience of over 400 senior executives, including representatives from Iberdrola, Grenergy, TotalEnergies, RWE, and public sector officials from several autonomous communities, Aerolaser unveiled DALIA, its comprehensive platform for the digitalization and smart inspection of critical infrastructure.
"DALIA is an innovative solution that unifies the entire inspection cycle, from data capture and upload to automatic report generation," states Carmen Sánchez, Business Development Director at Aerolaser. Developed in partnership with Redeia, through its technology platform Elewit, the tool addresses current challenges in asset maintenance, safety, and traceability.
A comprehensive platform with a digital focusAerolaser"s platform operates under a SaaS model, handles terabytes of data with no restrictions, and enables visual asset management whether aerial, ground-based, or underwater via a simple and intuitive graphic interface.
"I can access assets anywhere in the world with just one click," Sánchez emphasizes.
With the use of AI, multispectral analysis, thermal imaging, and LIDAR point clouds, DALIA provides real-time insight into asset conditions, automatically detects anomalies, and generates instant reports.
"It offers a clear, real-time view, enabling early problem detection, vegetation management, and wildfire risk reduction," explains the Aerolaser executive.
Scalable beyond electrical networksAlthough DALIA was initially developed with a strong focus on electrical grids in partnership with Redeia its architecture was designed from the ground up to be completely data-source agnostic and scalable to other infrastructure types across the renewable value chain.
"The platform can process data from drones, helicopters, airplanes, or underground and ground-based sensors, regardless of the acquisition method," says Sánchez.
This flexibility allows DALIA to be applied not only to power grids but also to transport infrastructure, railway systems, large-scale solar installations, and wind energy assets.
"DALIA isn't just for grid operators; it's for any asset that requires advanced inspection and continuous digitalization," she asserts.
Success stories: Redeia, UTE, and ArgoA standout case is Redeia, which has already loaded and inspected over 45,000 km of electrical networks on the platform through Elewit.
"All assets are now managed through DALIA," confirms Sánchez.
In UTE Uruguay, the tool was used to assess the condition of aging networks and determine repowering strategies. "The system runs automatic simulations to understand conductor behavior under different conditions," she details.
Meanwhile, Argo is currently managing 2,500 km of its infrastructure with DALIA.
To date, DALIA has been deployed in more than 500 projects across 28 countries, with over 300,000 kilometers of electrical lines inspected, proving its operational reliability and scalability.
Advantages over traditional methodsDALIA was created to overcome the limitations of conventional inspection approaches: human risk, data discontinuity, and lack of traceability.
"We propose smart inspection based on digitalization, automation, and control," says Sánchez.
Its advanced capabilities include automatic classification of LIDAR point clouds, detection of thermal, visual, and distance anomalies, and environmental parameter simulations to analyze asset behavior under various scenarios.
"We can simulate how conductors respond to temperature or wind changes, enabling more precise planning," notes the executive.
Recognition and continuous evolutionDALIA is now in its second version, currently in production, and the roadmap includes new modules such as vegetation growth prediction, automated pruning planning, and structural reinforcement simulations.
"DALIA will never be finished; it evolves with each client's changing needs," affirms Sánchez.
The platform's impact has been widely acknowledged. DALIA received the 2022 Best Energy Innovation Initiative Award, the 9th Connected Industry Impulse Award in 2024, and the Spanish Prime Award, personally presented by the King.
"With DALIA, the future of inspection is not just told, it"s demonstrated," concludes Aerolaser"s Business Development Director, inviting companies across the renewable infrastructure spectrum to test the solution and unlock its full potential.
