Trinasolar, a global leader in smart photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage solutions, has begun deliveries for a solar and storage project located in Sandon Brook, Essex, UK.
Owned and led by global renewable energy company LowCarbon, it is the Chinese manufacturer's first project to combine the company's modules, mounting structures, and energy storage systems on the same site, with all its solutions sourced.
This represents a significant milestone for the company, underscoring its commitment to providing complete, integrated smart solar and energy storage solutions.
Trinasolar will provide nearly 80,000 of its Vertex N n-type double-glass bifacial solar modules, with power outputs of up to 700W, which will be mounted on more than 1,100 of the company's mounting structures.
For the battery energy storage system (BESS), Trina Storage will deliver the complete integrated AC system, including 36 Elementa cabinets for a total of 70 MWh of storage capacity, supporting the site's arbitrage and ancillary services capabilities.
The single-source nature of the project ensures high component compatibility and optimization, maximizing consistent performance over time.
When completed, the project will have a solar PV generating capacity of 49.9 MW, enough to power more than 16,500 homes.
Furthermore, the solar power plant will help avoid nearly 15,000 tons of carbon emissions each year.
The completion of this project is a testament to the long-standing strategic partnership between Trinasolar and LowCarbon, with both companies sharing the same passion for technical excellence and ESG responsibilities.
Sandon Brook is one of four Low Carbon sites in the UK where Trina Storage has provided BESS capabilities, bringing the total storage capacity to 190 MWh. Justin Thesiger, Managing Director of Global Supply Chain at Low Carbon, said: "We are delighted to see the Sandon Brook project begin to take shape and to further strengthen our partnership with Trinasolar.
"Delivering a combined solar and storage project like this is ambitious in scope, but the fact that we can source all the core elements of the system from Trinasolar is a huge benefit.
We look forward to working with the company on similar holistic projects in the future as we seek to play a key role in combating climate change," he added. Gonzalo de la Viña, President of Europe at Trinasolar, added: "We are extremely proud to see how our company's philosophy of implementing integrated smart energy solutions is being put into practice in our region.
We firmly believe that projects of this type are the future of the solar industry, given the benefits they bring in terms of functionality and compatibility, and we are excited to see the difference it will make in the local community once completed.
"Having such a strong and trusted working relationship with Low Carbon has been instrumental in this effort, with their expertise and local knowledge being essential to bringing the project to fruition.
We see this as just the beginning when it comes to integrated projects, and we eagerly anticipate working on more in the future," de la Viña concluded.
